My son has applied both AROTC & NROTC. He met the Dec. deadline for AROTC and in fact completed the application back in November. He completed the NROTC last week in Novemeber.

When can he expect AROTC and NROTC, historically speaking?

The AROTC Board meets Jan. 7th. Based on previous boards I wouldn't expect to hear any news until at least the last week in Jan. or first week in Feb.

Thats what I anticipated. However, better to go off of experience. What about NROTC?...same?

When I went for my Army interview; the LTC told me to expect an answer around late January.

... just out of curiosity - if you do not receive a scholarship from Board 2, but gets pushed back to say Board 3 - does CC tell you this? Or do you just not hear anything from them?

If you are not selected by the Jan. Board your status will stay as it is, CC will not notify you if you do not receive a scholarship offer. You will be rolled over to the final board.

I see ... so the "no news is good news" applies here. Thanks!

well, not exactly. "No news" means no scholarship was awarded. On the other hand, "no news" isn't all bad in that there is one more chance before the Board.

You may not hear a final negative reply (and I hope you don't get such a reply) until mid-April. Be ready to pull the trigger on plan B or C or whatever it is, then.

4 Jan - 2nd Board Ready list PMS deadline

Regarding the January AROTC Board schedule, does anybody know (Clarksonarmy? Marist?) what's involved with the January 4 calendar item for the "2nd Board Ready List PMS deadline"? What exactly does the PMS have to submit by this date?

The PMS needs to answer 3 questions for each school that falls in their BN that each HS student listed on their application.

The questions are:
Does the student meet the admission requirements for this school ?
Do you recommend this student for a 3 yr scholarship ?
Do you recommend this student for a 4 yr scholarship ?

For example:
Columbia University: No, Yes, Yes
Marist College: Yes, Yes, Yes

A this time the only reason someone would not be recommended for a 3 or 4 year scholarship is if they do not meet the admissions requirements. This is not supposed to be a tool for a PMS to help or hurt an applicant. Our PMS does not "no" anyone, because our schools don't have published minimum admission standards that exceed the scholarship application standards.
