If there still needed to be a discussion over how ridiculous the whole BCS/Ranking thing is- the Alabama-Notre Dame machup last night was it. Not a chance in the world that Notre Dame should have been on the field last night. I wonder how many people actually tuned into the second half?
What a mismatch. AJ McCarron's girlfriend got plenty of exposure though- (Was that more than a little weird listening to Brett Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit doing about a quarter long riff on how awesome she looks?)

What a disappointing game that was.

So boring. DH and I didn't return after the half. The attention on the girlfriend was definitely strange.

We shut it off by 9:30.

Was strange regarding those comments. Basically he is old enough to be her grandfather! It kind of gives it an ooh/uck factor!

She is very good looking though:thumb: Pays to be a QB rather than a lowly DB.

The game was a joke and BCS is a joke. In no way shape or form should an Independent league team be playing a top SEC team. I really wish we could have seen an Oregon-Alabama match up, at least that game would have been close. I didn't even bother watching the second half. Only 3 of the games ND played were ranked and one of their wins came from Navy which would never appear in a SEC standard schedule.

Yes Kirk and Brent were rather creepy during that portion.

I decided to watch The Biggest Loser over on NBC as I figured Bama would kick tail. After the weigh-in, I switched to ABC and found out who was the real Biggest Loser. :yllol:

Totally agree with the above. However, we kept watching. My husband had been saying for weeks "Notre Dame hasn't seen anything like Alabama...they'll get spanked". I disgreed...and I thought they might make 2nd half adjustments and come back. Obviously, that did not happen. My husband was kind enough not to say "Told you so" more than 2-3 times! :)

I see ESPN apologized for Brent. I saw on the news today that she now has over 215K twitter followers compared to AJs 100K. Who would have thought 24 hrs prior to the game, she would be the most talked about and not him?

Talk about stealing the spotlight!:shake: Nobody's talking about him being the 1st QB to win 2 championships, nor his future prospects, but how she was Miss Alabama. She is on the front page of the NY Post.

The irony is also Brent gets in trouble and she benefits for his stupidity!

Nobody's talking about him being the 1st QB to win 2 championships,

6 other QBs have won 2 national championships before him, most recently done by Matt Leinert (USC) in 2003 and 2004.

McCarron is the first to win 2 BCS championships, the "BCS" system being a recent invention.

A much more exciting Notre Dame athletic event was Saturday's basketball game between ND's women and the then #1 one ranked UConn Huskies.

On Monday night Cadet Delahanty and I had a great dinner at one of the top restaurants in his town. Usually jammed, it was half full that night, and the kitchen showed what it can do.

When I got to my hotel afterwards, I checked in on ESPN and saw the score was 42-7 in the fourth quarter. Ho-hum.

Good catch. Matt Leinert turned out be a bust anyway. What about Tebow? Didn't he win two BCS Championships in 2006 and 2008? Another bust as well...

That's OK with me.....we got Russell Wilson....we're good.

I thought Brent was a little over the top

But Katherine Webb is cool with it.

Katherine Webb says she's flattered that broadcaster Brent Musburger gushed about her beauty during live coverage of the college football championship -- and she's taken aback by a backlash against him.

Tebow wasn't the starter in '06, he backed up Chris Leak.

True true, but it should be noted that Tebow did have 2 TDs that game compared to Leak's 1. I know TDs aren't everything, but Tebow wasn't a usual college backup. He saw regular playtime in certain formations like the wildcat and subbed in frequently.

That's somewhat of a misleading fact. USC claims the title in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005, despite only the 2004 title being the BCS title which they won in an actual title game (later vacated). Not saying the BCS title is the only one that matters, but there's about 10 different groups that name a champion each year and teams claim anything they can, even if they know they didn't actually win it. That second title Matt Leinart wants to claim was named by 3 polls while all the other polls chose the team that really won it, LSU. Oklahoma claims the title that year too. Alabama has done it quite a bit as well. Hell, they claim my team's 1964 Championship even though they lost to the team we beat for the title.

Hopefully, this playoff system can eliminate some of this so 10 different teams aren't claiming to be champions each year.

Regardless---the point is McCarron is not the first college QB to lead his team to two national championships.

If it makes you happy, I'll use Jimmy Harris (OK '55/'56).

Or Johnny Lujack (Notre Dame '46/'47).

Or Jerry Tagge (Nebraska '70/'71).

Or Steve Davis (OK '74/'75).

Or Tommy Frazier (Nebraska '94/'95).

Oh I definitely wasn't disputing the fact. I just wanted to point out how I think it's stupid in this day in age, we can't figure out a single national champion because everyone wants to name/claim "their" champion. And because I hate USC and their cheating coach. :thumb:

I also only heard they were labeling McCarron as the only repeat BCS QB, which would be correct since the BCS only came around in 1998. So I'd agree with those other guys anyways.
