Doesn't matter. It's a political appointment. He will make some internal changes, but ultimately he will follow the orders from the President.

I also think the Sec Def's role in determining our foreign policy should be very limited. His opinion on Iran and Isareal shouldn't matter as much.
Not sure I agree with that last sentence MemberLG but in any case I like to now my president is being presented different viewpoints and I'm not sure that's going to be the case with his National Security Cabinet Members. Of course I'm also not sure hearing other points of view would make any difference anyway so...
