PA nominations for Naval Academy

The appointment thread shows 1 Presidential and 1 Congressional from PA. You might consider PM'ing the users names listeed.

I have a Presidential and received a MOC from Congressman Platts, and would have received nominations from both Senators (according to the letters) if I didn't get one from Platts. To both USMA and USNA. No word on appointments.

My DD received a nomination from congressman but did not get nominations from either senators. Now the wait really begins.

PA nom

My DD has nominations from MOC to USAFA and USMMA
from Senator she also got a nom to USMMA
She has appointments to USAFA and USMMA
Good luck to you !

Not to hijack thread, just a quick? New to the Board. Tried to look this up, can you tell me what exactly DD, DS stands for. Thanks .

Pennsylvania has long been a nomination "coordinating" state. Barring some unknown, extraordinary circumstance, none receive more than one nomination from U.S. Congressional sources, i.e. members of the House or Senate. And consequently from VP, SecNav, Supe sources, which are only provided in situations where one is needed.

We're in PA-04 ... my DS received an LOA and subsequent nomination from our congressman. At the congressman's nomination ceremony, another LOA candidate also received a nom (she is not listed in the forum appointment list, but is going to USNA from what we understand.) Within the last week, my DS received "sorry, no nomination" letters from both senators, which we fully expected, since we know that PA MOCs coordinate efforts to give as many candidates a chance as possible. If you haven't received a "sorry, but no!" letter from Casey and Toomey yet, I would think that is a good sign!

Good luck!!!

... so to clarify, I believe that there are three appointments in PA thus far, two congressional and one presidential -- but at least two were LOAs just waiting for noms.

That's awesome! I hope my DD is as blessed with that kind of news . Is she a recruited athlete?

No she is just a kid who attended STEM and was inspired, and made it a personnel mission to attend the USNA. She spent the next 3 years dedicating her academic and EC life with the goal of an appointment. I am very proud of her. I too hope you are blessed and look forward to seeing you at I day...
