DoDMerb DQ'd me for "Keratorefractive/laser surgery to reconfigure cornea". I got LASIK a few months ago. My eye sight is 20/20 now. I am already enlisted Air Force, and was enlisted when I had the surgery. Will I be able to get a waiver from the USAFA for this?

AFA

The AFA is very direct about having this type of surgery. I think you are DQ'd

im am pretty sure that the air force does not allow lasik for the reason that they are concerned about the flap moving around during flight. If you had gotten PRK sugery and waited until you were in the AF it would have been OK. I am sorry

She may be slightly different than the typical applicant since she had the surgery while in the service and I am assuming performed by an Air Force ophthalmologist.

If that is the case there may be some wiggle-room although I have no first-hand experience with this exact circumstance.
