The Acronym List

Need help with "TACCO" :confused: ....(NAVY)

Tactical Communications Control Officer ?

This one is I believe unique to the P-3 Community: TACCO = Tactical Coordinator

The TACCO is the senior NFO on the aircraft. They are basically the ones who "run the mission". They are the ones who deploy the weapons, etc. (granted the pilots can push the "fire" button as well)

Came across this today. Doesn't have CFA [or at least the Service academy definition, CFA also stands for Committee on Food Aid Policies and Programmes (UN)] but for those of you like me, new to the DoD and the amazing world of acronyms, this is a pretty helpful little tool :thumb:

A few posts have been deleted here. Please remember to keep acronyms appropriate.

Oops, I meant to ask about "IC" ?

Recruited athletes have a different protocol. If you are an IC, you should talk to your coach and he/she can tell you where you’re at.

IC means "Inter-collegiate" and refers to student-athletes.

NWU = Navy Working Uniform
MID/MIDN = Midshipman
SQD = Squad
PLT = Platoon

There's like a million more... these are just a few additions

Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency.

If you can't find it in the acronym list Google is always worth a try.

Thanks, Kinnem :thumb:. Is CULP something Marines would do or is it another branch?

Dont know the acronym ROO.

I checked the acronym list and it was no where to be found. Please enlighten me. I believe Recruit Orientation Officer possibly? Does each school or battalion have one?

Come on! You guys are leaving out all the ones that the .mil REALLY uses!

BOHICA - Bend Over, Here It Comes Again!
SNAFU - Situation Normal: All [blanked] Up
TARFU - Thigs are REALLY [blanked] Up!
FUBAR - [Blanked] Up Beyond All Recognition (or Repair)
IHTFP - I Hate This [blanking] Place (alternatively: I Have Truly Found Paradise or I Hope There's a Friday Parade!)
TU - [blank] Up (Broken)
AFU - All [blanked] Up

So when you hear that there was a SNAFU when MIDN 4/C Gish and MIDN 4/C Door both forgot to clean their room and it was found to be FUBAR during random room inspection, that the inspecting upperclassmen had left the room TU and AFU, and that Door and Gish were about to get BOHICA'd, and that the entire mess had them scrawling IHTFP all overr their letters home, you'll understand WTF is being said. :biggrin:

BTW, unless they've changed things, the Zero Deck is not the basement. It is the first floor. The basement doesn't have a number.

I lived on 4-0 during Plebe Year. Thank God I didn't have to chop up to 1-4 (although I did live up there the rest of my three years).
Whoa, those words. I am so going to be out of my element at West Point. I hadn't even heard the ones that some people consider normal language until I was 8. I didn't here these until I was way into middle school. #homeschooledpastor'sdaughter who hasn't gone to much stuff that isn't christian.

Thanks though. I guess I need to know these, even if I would NEVER use them.
