Hello All! I was selected for the LEAD visitation program (I'm an enlisted airman) and I'll be going on TDY to the Academy for 4 days in mid February. I was wondering if this means that I have a good chance of receiving an appointment? Additionally, I have a completed admissions file, so I'm sure that was one of the determining criteria for selection. Thanks! Hopefully this isn't the dumbest question you guys have heard all day. Pardon me if this is inappropriate.

Which days in Feb?

Are you also coming to the Prep School?

I went on the visit in September with 24 other Airmen, ranging from Reserves to Enlisted, and have kept in touch with some of them and the Admissions team, and so far I know only 3 of them who have been accepted, 2 I know for sure are Directs and the other one I do not know. But they said that 88 or so had applied thus far when I had gone there, and the 25 who were selected we're the top of the group. Forgot to mention that of the 2 who were selected for direct, one had a Pres. Nom and the other had a Congressional.
And the trip isn't guaranteed to get you an appointment, it just means you look good and they want you to keep on track to go if you do get selected. Think of it as a college team trying to recruit a star QB from a High School.

Understood. Thanks for the explanation!

AFrpaso, I'll be there from 12 Feb - 15 Feb. The email I received from admissions doesn't specify if I'll be visiting the prep school. However, considering it's for LEAD candidates, I'm going to assume that a prep school visit is part of the agenda.

When I visited we went to the Prep School, didn't really get to do much there but it's nice to see what the Prep School is like.

I have been invited to the feb visit as well. My file is complete but my status right now is medically disqualified. Does getting an invitation for the DVP mean that I will probably get a waiver?

Getting selected to attend usually means you are quite competitive. Getting selected won't automatically qualify you for a medical waiver, because USAFA doesn't decide that, DODMERB does. Best of luck!
