Looking through a crystal ball it seems you are competitive, your academics look good and you have a varsity sport. The caveat in all this is how you stack up to the other applicants that listed the same schools.

You mention that you are an officer in Future business leaders, are you in any other leadership positions, ie Captain of your cross country team, a leader in your Youth Group.

Best of luck

My one suggestion would be to take your SAT again, and again if necessary. Set a 700 goal in math. It is very important. For some reason I think that 700 in math is a number that seems to be nearly a requirement. There a re plenty of folks who have less than 700 and have succeeded. Why risk it? Solidify yourself and increase your SAT scores. In regards to the rest of your info, you seem competitive. Good luck!

thanks for the tip! I always viewed my SAT scores as sort of my achilles heel during the process

I would agree with the goal of 700 Math for NROTC, not really a requirement for AROTC unless you lacking in one of the other areas.

it is very interesting to see the stats of those that are offered AROTC Scholarships, AROTC really does look at the whole person. When my younger son applied there were awardees that had 3.7 GPA's and 1390 SAT's that did not receive scholarships. There were also awardees that had much lower academic stats that were offered. Just as a note, my son had a 3.5 UW GPA and a 24 ACT, the low end of the academic stats. The rest of his application was very strong, he was awarded a scholarship from the first board to 5 schools. This is why it is so hard to determine the chances of individual applicants, so many things come into play such as school choices. Had my son applied at only schools with large competitive battalions he may not have received a scholarship. He is at a school he loves, a great battalion, and is doing very well in school, he couldn't be happier.

I do agree with WienerDog, if you are not selected by this board see if you can retake the SAT, or take the ACT, this is the only improvement you can add to your application, why not try and improve your score, it certainly will not hurt you.

Your SAT scores are above the national averages for the last AROTC scholarship I saw published (though this goes back a couple of years). Also, they are at or near the 75th percentile for U of Alabama. So, I wouldn't worry about it at this point. There isn't time to take the SAT for the March 11, 2013 board.

If you don't get a scholarship now but decide to try for one while in school, I don't know if improving your SAT would make a difference.

Otherwise, I agree your profile makes you competitive.

Thanks for the advice everyone! whatever happens will happens and its not in my hands at this point. In the end, all that matters is I will commission, which is the ultimate goal:thumb:

DS original sat's were 640 640 620. After several attempts after that (4 times in fact) The scores were..math 700, writing 690, reading 690. With each test you take you can increase your scores. I also hired a SAT tutor for each test. Your scores will only get better. Set your goals high!! Good luck.

Well there you go, I knew someone had to have the right info.

EDelahanty is right, your SAT will not be in play when trying for a campus scholarship.

Which schools were in-state? My son also put Alabama first and Clemson fourth. We live in Alabama.

IS schools were Liberty U and JMU. However, my ideal school choice would be South Carolina or Clemson

He doesn't have time and his scores were comparable to mine when I got my 4-year scholarship. I was initially line then switched to the nursing route. My only real differences juxtaposed to his stats are diversity of sports and extent of involvement (Select and travel teams with various college prospect camps/combines plus standard HS involvement)

Good luck, you have a decent shot.
