Hello Everybody,

I just opened my file and had a question about LORs.

Are we able to submit other LORs other than from teachers. For example, I am a volunteer firefighter and I would like my Captain to write me a LOR.

Would West Point accept this LOR? Who exactly can send a LOR?

Yes, that would be an acceptable LOR I'd say. It is unique too, a different perspective of you.

I would absolutely send in this recommendation as I thank it would be viewed in a positive light by the academy. It may make your application stand out from the herd.

Candidates have a feature in their portals called "Upload Docs" where they can upload extra letters of recommendation. You would just upload a PDF or picture of the letter.

However I did see someone ask the same question to Admissions, and the answer was that there is a good chance that extra letters may not be read, as the focus is on the SOEs.
 
That LOR might be very useful for your nomination application.
