Senior Year

Hello,
I am currently registering for my Senior year. I have always taken AP and Honors classes, and I have never received a grade lower than a B my whole life. My GPA is currently a 4.4, and next year I am wondering if the planned class load is too much or unnecessary. I am planning on taking AP Chemistry, Physics, Economics, AP Calculus AB, AP English Literary Comp, AP US History, and Student Government. Along with that, I might be entering an internship at my local airport in Aviation if things go as planned. I also have a job at the Bureau of Land Management. I am curious to see if this is unnecessary, and see if it would be wise for me to lighten my class load because I have a lot going on already. Thanks!!

No one here can say if its necessary. It all depends, in part, on who your competition is. The Academies look to see if you took a heavy load relative to what is offered at your school. At the same time you need to maintain a high GPA. So you need to make a decision on what you take within those parameters.

All that being said, I personally might drop the AP English. I think the Chem, Physics, and Calculus are critical to your application.

Agreed. I'm presently a senior with an appointment to the Academy and if you replace Econ with Spanish your schedule is essentially the same as mine (though my school offers IBs instead of APs). I am handling it fairly well, but most of my friends think I'm crazy and would not have made the decision to take these classes. If you think you can handle it and continue the good grades, go for it. If not, do consider which classes will help your application the most, both in terms of what grades you expect and the classes the Academy finds most desirable.
 
I think you should look at the classes you are currently taking and make sure what you register for next year isn't less rigorous. Make sure you maintain or increase how rigorous your coursework is so the Academy doesn't think you are slacking off for senior year. My opinion of course, I'm not sure if that's actually how it works. If you can handle everything, then go for it. If not, I agree with dropping AP English.
