I've tried searching for a link to the calendar for 2013. Specifically looking for the dates of R-day and A-day for the Class of 2017. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Rday is July 1. I believe A day is Aug. 17. Are you in the West Point Mom facebook group? We have a lot of good info over there. Also, there's a page called West Point Parents. The second group is official and run by West Point. The moms' page is good info, but not official...just moms sharing what they know and have learned along the way.

Thanks for the info. I'm already member of the West Point Parent's page on Facebook and have just requested membership to the Mom's page.

DS received a letter last Saturday that his file (he has an LOA) has been approved and to expect his official appointment in the first wave of packets that go out at the end of February. So excited here that DS will finally be a member of the Long Grey Line - Class of 2017. What a long and winding road this has been! The disappointment of his injury after his appointment to the Class of 2016 is now a fading memory. Hooah! GO ARMY!!:thumb:

Execellent!!

Congrats to your DS!! Thanks for sharing the other info also.

Congratulations! I can only imagine what your DS and family went through last year!

I can honestly say that the support and encouragement that we have received on this forum was so helpful.

The drama of an injury is bad enough. Losing the appointment 2 weeks after receiving it was heartbreaking. Not getting the waiver in time for R-day 2012 was extremely tough. Watching the way my DS has handled this whole situation has been priceless. He's held his head high and pressed on to do whatever he had to to make this happen. My husband and I are very honored to be DS's parents. Can't wait to be a West Point MOM

You're officially in the fb group...so that makes you a West Point Mom!

I definitely recommend wrapping your DS in bubble wrap until R-Day!

Regarding the bubble wrap... wish I could figure out a way to do that. DS is currently in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A & M and is a member of a special Ranger unit...uggg. He told me the other day that he competed in a O-course competition this last weekend. We've already told him there will be NO skiing, mountain climbing or any other activity where injury is eminent over Spring Break. I'm doing what I can to encourage low-key activities from now until July 1!

Is it after the rday oath ceremony or a day that you get to go hang out with your family?

If things remain the same as they have in recent past, you get to visit with your family on A-Day and the day after in August. On R-day, after the 90 second goodbye in the morning, you'll get to speak w/ them every two weeks or so by telephone (2 are 10 minutes, one can be much longer and comes at the half-way point during the "ice cream social").

Does anyone know if you can visit with your new cadet at end of the march back?

No, if you get a real nice cadre member you may get a quick word or hug, but don't expect it.
