A bit about myself.

I am 15 years old and a Sophomore in High School. I am involved in Cross Country Running, Track, Speech Team, Student Council and leadership groups, as well as boxing as a means to stay in shape. I intend on joining my school's swim team my Junior year. I wish to become an officer in the United States Marine Corps; although I have considered the United States Naval Academy, I am leaning towards going to a civilian college as a NROTC candidate. I was wondering if I could get some advice on physical training and means to make myself stand out as an officer candidate.

Thanks! :thumb:

Welcome. I am a freshman, and so far, my best assumption would be to look at the requirements and go way past that, and things like running are always good. Maybe I should take my own advice? (I would rather roller-blade than run, and I convince myself since I don't know how far I am running it is OK.) Anyway, that would be my suggestion, and that is what I am working on myself.

Ashleigh- Sounds like a good idea; what I'm trying to do is hit the physical fitness requirements early so there is less pressure come Junior and Senior year. Even if it might not be particularly enjoyable, definitely hit the running pretty hard. Also, another good idea would be to contact an OSO sooner rather than later, as the earlier you can show interest in ROTC the greater your edge over other applicants will be.
