For those in roughly the Boston/Worcester/Providence Triangle - good luck with what is being touted as a "historic" blizzard. Should be a real treat- the Governor is telling us to get off the roads by noon and they are now predicting 32" of snow in my town. Hang in there- stay warm and avoid Heart Attacks or freezing to death!!
On the lighter side- this is what 2 feet of snow looks like- you don't want to see 3!

Amtrak just cancelled all trains north of NYC. Airlines are even worse. Good luck New England stay safe. Understand you still have Tom Brady for another year.

I wonder how this one will compare with the last big blizzard I remember dealing with (Dec 2009). Of course I haven't been back in that neck of the country in wintertime since, but at least the warning made my trek across NE to my stop in NJ very easy. Lots of snow driving across the Mass Turnpike and across CT, but when there is nobody out there, the driving isn't that bad, even with 15 inches down... Just keep the car between the snow plow stakes and don't stop!

7Pm and we've only had a couple of inches of snow so far but the Wind is really howling out there - it's an excellent night to read and peer out the window every so often. With all of the hoopla and money invested in shutting virtually everything down- the weathermen at this point need to be right or their jobs will be "gone with the wind"!- Headline from The Weather Channel is an example:

Good luck! I grew up in Boston and remember the "Blizzard of '78" -- great fun for kids, no doubt less so for our parents.

Pictures from New London confirm the USCGA cadets are having a blast sledding down the hills - 18"-24" expected.

As of 0800 according to the Weather Service we've received 28" in my town and it's still snowing hard. But on the plus side- no power outages so far (thanks to the town forcing neighborhood power lines to be underground!). Thankfully- it's nice light snow so the snow blower will make (relatively) short work of it! Hot chocolate anyone?

Stay safe and warm Bruno. We were pretty lucky here in NJ just 6 to 8 inches and no wind.

I love French toast and a big pot of coffee on days like that. When I was younger I could do it before AND after snow removal operations were complete. Have fun!

I am interested in everyone's vivid remembrances of the Blizzard of 1978. Obviously that year's storm has stuck in everyone's memory, yet the "geniuses" at the Weather Channel insist they need to "name" storms so everyone will remember them, so ''Nemo" it is. The National Weather Service and Accuweather are ignoring the Weather Channel and their storm naming system and are considering it a marketing ploy. The next names in line are Orko, Plato, and Q.

Personally, I absolutely detest the Weather Channel and never use them for my primary source of weather. Just try preparing for a hurricane using the Weather Channel's histrionics.....

Why your weatherman is protesting the name "Nemo": http://news.yahoo.com/why-weatherman-protesting-name-nemo-174627091.html

The blizzard of 78 was just cool. We cross country skied down main streets, no school for 3 weeks. Drifts and drifts of snow. I think the beanpot (big college hockey game) was playing in the Boston garden then and people had to walk home.
