I prefer the two-hour tour because the cemetery is so special. You also visit the old Cadet Chapel. Please check with the Visitors Center before coming because the tours do not run if West Point has a Code Red weather condition.

There are visitor tours and candidate tours. Candidates can sign up for Mon to Fri tours but I think it needs to be 2 weeks in advance. It's on the USMA site.

With the snow on the ground you may not get a chance to do much walking around at the various bus stops. Leave time to see the museum and the exhibits in the Visitor's Center.

Also, keep in mind you can just go around West Point by yourself (you don't HAVE to do the visitor center's tour).

That's not correct. West Point is very clear about this:

Please Note: West Point is not open for self touring. Visitors may take a nominally priced guided tour of the Academy grounds departing from the West Point Visitors Center. Entrance is allowed for business, for visiting staff, faculty and cadets who live on West Point, and for public events such as concerts, sporting events, cadet reviews, and graduation.

The tour does a wonderful job giving an overview of the history of West Point and cadet life. There is no reason to pass on it. They aren't that expensive.

Do you know if you can go on both in a couple of days? Or would the candidate one cover it all? We live in SC, so it is kind of far, and I am just trying to figure this out.

Hey guys anyways, I went on the two-hour tour, it was really nice, then we saw a BK Hockey game, all in all, it was a great experince, I would vouch for the two-hour tour :thumb:
