This may have been addressed before, and from what I can gather one does not need to fill out a FAFSA for USNA (but it may be advisable as a backup for plan B, etc.). But my question concerns filling out the FAFSA for a sibling going to a civilian school. The form asks how many people in your household will be in college for the upcoming year. Should my future mid count as one, or will he not be considered part of our household once he goes to the Academy?

Re: FAFSA and siblings attending SAs ...are NOT to be counted as household members attending college. The question is intended to assist in assessing financial burden.

Your last sentence asks multiple questions. You may "count" your Mid on your taxes, assuming he's been a resident of your house and you've been accounting for his support prior to I Day, ONLY for the year in which he is inducted. After that, he's no longer a ward of your care, and people at the Yard will assist him in filing his taxes.
