So, I don't know if anyone on here can really help me with this, but I thought it would be worth a try. Is anyone on here familiar with the USMC
Mud Run and the requirements? I have a very close friend, and his friend did it, and I have always wanted to try it, but I haven't been able to find
the imformation (or to get it to load on my computer). Anyway, I am really hoping to do this. If am not ready (or we are out of town, which is a
possibility), during the one in April, I am definitely planning on trying for October if things work out.

Thanks.

You have to register for it as part of a team... individual entries are not allowed. A lot of guys from the Gamecock Battalion do it. It's not easy.

I have heard it isn't easy. But I really want to try. Besides, I am not afraid of pushing hard. Just when I was roller blading today, for two hours without taking more than a five minute break I skated as hard as I could, until literally, I could barely move my legs to get into the house and I have two huge blisters. I am more than willing to work hard and try to do this. I have been on the website, but I haven't been able to find out much. I guess my biggest concern is that I am only 14. Do you know anything about how that would affect things?

BTW, I am seriously questioning my sanity for wanting to do this, after what I have heard.

Well, I think my son did it, or maybe some other mud run in Columbia, but I expect it was this. In any case it wasn't easy but at the same time he said it was great fun. I think you have to be part of a team because teamwork is needed to get over, around, under, through some of the obstacles. If you are able to work that hard skating I have no doubt you could get in shape for it. You might try contacting them via their website to see if you can get answers to specific questions. One of them might need to be "How can I join an existing team?"... unless you have several like minded friends... and at 14 and female I doubt that you do.... willing to be wrong though.

Cool. Yeah, and that was because I was bored and very tired of algebra. OK, I will try that. Definitely. I seriously wish you were. The closest I can come is A friend in JROTC, and that is to get out of PE, although she kind of likes it. I seriously doubt that I could even get my good friend that is planning on doing ROTC in college to do it with me, although it would be nice to be wrong and I could ask him. I have been hearing about this for a while, but I always said I couldn't (OK wouldn't) do it. I seem to be doing a lot of things that I said I never would these days.

Glad to see more and more people wanting to do obstacle races. Now I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the Spartan Race, but I think it'd be a good way to test yourself before trying your hand at the USMC Mud Run. We have a race in Charlotte on March 23rd, if you're willing to make that trip!

I help coordinate at Spartan Races on the West Coast, but I have some contacts in the Carolinas so you can shoot me a message if you want to talk more. Whatever your choice, good luck!

Daughter did Mud Run and thought it was a blast. Especially the fire hose spray down. Paris Island has a Fun Run (Mud Run Light) which allows individual civilian entrants. She has some great pictures.

I have spent quite a bit of time trying to find it that way, I assure you. But really? Giving someone a link to google? Sorry, but that seems a little insulting. (Ok maybe not for some people in my family, but for someone who is active on this forum and knows how to use a forum, but it is pretty obvious I can use the internet.) I assure you, now, before I post a question, I do try to find the answer. Not trying to be rude, but I want everyone to know, before I will ask a question on here, I do my research. I learned my lesson a couple of weeks ago.

Then I'll do it: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=usmc+mud+run+age+requirements

Third link.

I couldn't find it either Ashleigh and I looked when you first expressed an interest in it. I couldnt find it either when I first looked but following hornetguys search results to the registration page it appears I simply missed it the first time. Looks like minimum age is 14 (good news for you) but at least one team member must be 18.

Folks- I will express this once- the purpose of this forum is to provide assistance and answers. If you have them - thanks for your assistance. If all you can provide is some snide veiled comments about the poster- then stay off the thread. It's not your call to determine when someone else should have found the information that they are asking about, nor is it in the interests of this forum that a self appointed few get to decide what questions can be asked or answered and all others are subtly or not so subtly dissuaded from asking.

USMA2020: as Kinnem and now Hornetguy have posted in their links: you have to be 14- one person 18 and you have to register as a 4 person team. Good luck finding 3 others to join you:thumb: http://www.usmcmudrun.org/

I am sorry. As I believe I said, I was unable to get the websites to load.

Sorry USMCRD at Paris Island has a "Swamp Romp" which is open to MC teams and individual civilians. It is not the "Mud Run". Check Bing or Google for applications and age requirements. Ten to 14 must have an adult registered with them.

Come on! Please. This is awful. I am laughing really hard right now, because several people on here seem to think I am dumb. Please stop, I am trying to work but I can't stop laughing.

I'm teaching you how to use Google. If you're saying you looked everywhere and couldn't find it, then you are having difficulty understanding how to search. Google uses very good search algorithms so that specific searches are not cumbersome. All I did was take your question "USMC age requirements" and input it into Google. The THIRD link had all the rules including that one. If you can't find information on the actual event webpage, google is a handy way to bypass a poorly designed interface.

You're 14, a freshman in high school, you came on here and made a poor name for yourself among many of us regular posters (halo effect goes both ways), and have decided to take everything personal to include blasting many USAF and Army CGOs on this site among other people.

I said nothing snarky, didn't insult you, and provided you a way to see how it's done in my post. So instead of yelling, "I'm not dumb! Stop picking on me!," how about you sit down, LISTEN to the advice being given on how to go about getting information and quit being so huffy about people. If you want to be in the military, the treatment you've received "correcting" your behavior online is a FAR cry from just how much you would be blasted in a military setting. Grow a thicker skin, understand you dug yourself into a small hole that isn't hard to get out of if you just take a moment to calm down on your posting, and quit being personally insulted when you, as a 14-year old, are being corrected. You have people with so much expertise on here that are trying to TEACH (and sometimes it is not done by holding your hand) you how to learn but you are just getting pissed off like a know it all teenager. Personally, I'm almost done writing my dissertation and finishing my PhD. As a result, I'm quite the expert on how to SEARCH for information and find it. Hence my googling lesson for you. Others have attempted other lessons for you. I suggest you do better LISTENING and you'll find life much better on here.

On another side note, I see you've posted visitor messages to some new people to the forums saying welcome, ask you all about how to get around the site, and oh, by the way, I'll tell you who to avoid and who to ask for help. This isn't a high school hallway with cliques, that is yet another way to make posters unhappy with your behavior. Some of the people you advise to avoid happen to have some of the best knowledge about admissions and preparing for an SA such as liaison officers. You do them a dis service by telling new people to stay away.

USMA2020,

You know I've been helpful both here on the forum and in the PMs we've exchanged. I have to say I agree with the thrust of hornetguy's post here. I personally use various methods to try to help people here. Sometimes I give them a written smack upside the head and, believe it or not, they thank me for it. The method I use often depends on what I think that person needs at that moment. I suppose sometimes I'm wrong. However, I'm more often correct. I also know for a fact that if you can't handle some of the tougher posts here you will not be able to handle the military. I think we cut you a lot of slack due to your age but you do need to avoid taking things personally. It is often not meant that way and if you wait or "listen" you'll find your answer anyway. Good luck and keep posting in a responsible manner.

OK, I think I over-reacted. I will be honest, I have had one of the hardest months of my life, and I know that I have been being too sensitive. I am not trying to make excuses, there are none. What I am trying to do is make it clear that normally I don't act this way. Please forgive, me and know that I didn't intend to sound that way. As for a couple of the user messages, it was a bit of a joke that I had based on some things that we had talked about previously.

As for the blasting, I wasn't aware with one, I didn't think I blasted until it got out of hand. I contacted the moderators and asked if I should post a public apology and was told no.

I really am trying to learn to listen. That is something my mom gets frustrated with me about.

This is not meant to continue beating a dead horse, but one of the most valuable skills a leader has is listening. Listening is not just being wuiet and hearing the words but comprehending and understanding... sometimes even more than what is said. Good luck! It's not an easy skill to acquire but it can be done.
