I noticed that the format of the portal changed when I checked today. Some of the text was gone. However, my application status still had not changed. Should i take this as a sign of rejection? Like, they reviewed my file, and they didn't make any changes? Did anyone's portal and application status change?

Same thing happened to alot of the candidates. Not sure what it means at this point. The change was that the "red" text notifying of appointments in March is gone. Candidate status remains - no other changes. Just hang in there - something will happen one way or the other.

The change doesn't mean anything. It's system wide so anybody with an application is seeing the same as you.

I almost died when I saw it had changed too. The good news is that it doesn't say we HAVEN'T been accepted :)

The portal changed like that because the board that met last week was the final selection board. They sent out letters last week and this week regarding appointments.

Can anyone provide additional insight into the implications of the final selection board meeting? The impression I had from my son's ALO was that the appointments that went out on the 18th were those charged to a MOC's slate. The nominees that weren't charged to a MOC's slate could fall into two categories - get a TWE probably within the next week or go into the National Pool. However, how does that work if there are no more selection board meetings? Do they just offer appointments to the National Pool based on their WCS?

Obviously we are praying that my DS has a chance in the National Pool and any additional insight would be appreciated. I'm so happy for everyone posting on the Appointment thread, but I hope DS still has a chance to be a part of that group.

Thank you,
Jill

So basically, if you werent accepted yet, then you are placed in the national pool or rejected?

I think it is just the lack of any type of communication that is the most frustrating. Just wait and see - if you are not selected for the MOC slate, there are still slots available (though not too many) - so I'm sure there is more selection criteria that is implemented and the Academy just culls and culls until the slots are filled. There are also Prep slots, etc. You should have plan B, C, D, etc.

From experience last year - if you get a TWE your portal status will not change.

I thought I read somewhere (possibly from Insider) that TWEs weren't going to be mailed but rather will show in the portals this year. Does anyone else remember that post?

Yes I think a few different people told us that. They said they're changing things this year to save money. Wonder if those will come next Monday morning - kind of a rough way to start the week!

There is a lot of guessing going on here. I'll tell you what I can to remove the uncertainty.

Last week's Academy Board was the largest of the year but it is not the last. The board meets again tomorrow and the seven day clock will start again. Many of those selected tomorrow will hear from the MOCs over the next few days and the portals should go live next Wednesday. Again, do not call USAFA as the counselors are not permitted to reveal appointment information. The ALOs won't know either as their website updates the same time as the candidate portals.

Other than that expect things to be very quiet until early April (next week is spring break).

Thanks Insider for the update - some information is better than none. I am sure it is appreciated by all who are still waiting.
