What are pollen levels during beast typically like as compared to a more southern climate like GA? Is it advisable to bring Zyrtec or some other anti-allergen with me on R-Day? Thanks.

I don't believe cadet candidates are allowed to self-medicate during CBT.

Do not bring medications with you on R-Day unless previously approved by the USMA Surgeon and the USCC.

If they find medications on you, it might cause you to be medically disqualified.

^^Actually in our experience you ARE allowed to bring over the counter allergy medication like zyrtec - it must be brand new and completely sealed in original packaging. Allergy meds are the one exception I am aware of. But it will be confiscated if any part of the packaging has been opened.

If it is on an official letter sent to the candidate than it has been approved by USCC and the USMA Surgeon. Still, as someone who has seen candidates sent home from R-Day for having unapproved medications on them, (the non-prescription medication caused the reviewing physicians on R-Day to ask further questions and this resulted in a medical DQ for an unreported medical condition) I wouldn't risk it unless there was an official policy memo. While I appreciate your experience, probably best for the candidate to get official approval.

I think you can buy Zyrtec in the C Store but I am not positive.

^ and yes there is official policy on over the counter allergy meds ONLY (no tylenol or advil or others allowed) - but if it is an over the counter allergy med like zyrtec, it must be completely sealed and brand new. And if you bring it and they decide against it, they'll send it home (not you). Been there, done this, will do it again this year.
