Hello, my name is Patrick. I am 14 years old. I'm in my last year of Junior High School. I have wanted to attend the Air Force Academy since I was still a mere child. I have researched what it takes to get accepted, and I am doing everything in my will do meet those requirements. I am always taking helpful tips, and information that will help me out in the long run. I am involved in many sports, Wrestling, Baseball, and Football. I have gotten the honor roll 11/11 times in my Junior High career. I am about to join my local Civil Air Patrol unit. Can anyone give me some helpful information on what it will take to get accepted, and if I am doing anything right so far. I will greatly appreciate it. Oh, I almost forgot- I have been in contact with the Head wrestling coach at the Academy, Joel Sharratt.

I just took out my last name because I just saw a post where they said it was dangerous because the kid put his last name, why is that dangerous?

great for you. If you already know what you want to do and what your plan is you're ahead of the game. i wish i would've started planning at your age or knew what school i wanted to go to

the only thing is, there is nothing specifically that "it takes" to get into any Service Academy. other than the stated Leadership, dedication is another must. There's no way to say what the review board will see in you IF they see anything. Just try your hardest to do as well as you can in sports and academics in high school and then do more extracurriculars on top of that. all you can do is try your hardest to be the most competitive and hope your work will pay off. it also depends on who you're competing with in your district. It's hard to say how they judge it but in some cases people get rejected from top universities like UCLA and berkeley and get into a service academy which may be their top choice  good job, keep up the work :thumb:

oh and another thing people say with anything is: if it's meant to be it'll happen... everything happens for a reason etc etc

Well, I think we can figure out your last name from your username. It is not really dangerous to share your name unless you are an appointee and say something obnoxious/arrogant that the BCT cadre may read. A basic cadet could earn a little extra attention (not a good thing) that way.

Best wishes and ask as many questions as you need/want. We're here to help you on your path. :thumb:

Hey Patrick! It's wonderful that you have such drive and focus at your age. You seem like you're on the right path - keep it up!

I got a chuckle out of this Dad. :)

To Patrick. I enjoyed reading your (cute) words. :) Thanks for being so motivated to do your very best. Horsepower trumps raw brain power in most of what you do in life. I love the fact that you have so much focus! I know you will do well in life no matter what you do. :thumb: Take the hardest path in school and outwork everyone around you. Hang around the smartest kids. If they are smarter than you, just outwork them as they will be motivation to do your very best. It's surefire way to realize your dreams!
Good luck!
