Chances?

I think your chances are very reasonable although your verbal SAT is a little light and you will still want to show improvement on your grades (no surprise there!). Did you have leadership positions in your varsity sports or do you expect to be in a leadership position next year?

I will try to be president of my class next year and my grades arent that bad weighted but I thought my AA degree would:
1) boost my gpa
2) impress them
am I wrong?

As FoF stated, they are looking at your class standing, not your GPA. Are you in the top 10% of your class? Does your school have a good reputation academically? What courses is your AA composed of? If it is mostly carry overs of your AP classes, no. If it is liberal arts, maybe a little. If is difficult physical science, math, and technical subjects not taught at your school, probably. Your Eagle Scout is huge, varsity letters are good, captains of the teams next year would be even better. Fof is correct. The best you can do right now is to get all "A" s this year, continue to take the math and science courses to the highest level your school offers, and work on your SATs. Good luck.

I really hate that they look at what kind of school you went to etc. I understand you want someone with a good education background but just because you went to a small public school doesn't mean you didnt recieve a quality education (in my opinion)

as you will learn, it's hard to determine chances with anything related to admissions. Someone with a 3.5 GPA might get in over someone with a 4.0 and only those in admissions know why. Also, it all depends on how competitive everyone else applying is.

All I can say is WOW.

You must have much more time on your hands than many to pull a thread that is close to 7 yrs old. I wouldn't even know where to begin to retrieve that thread.

Old posters will probably giggle at the poster you decided to quote. It is a long story, but they are long gone, 1x, 2x, 3 times.

I am not sure why you chose that thread, because 7 yrs ago, they offered close to 1650+ apptmts, expecting 1350 class compared to the 1300 today with a class size of 1150+.

Different worlds. Heck, 99% of posters probably couldn't spell sequestration in 06. Today they can spell it, and give the definition.

06 chancing class are now O1's flying their air frames at their 1st op base. 24 yrs old.

Just saying, times have changed....alot!

FWIW, I agree, a 3.5 can get an appointment while a 3.97 won't. AFA appointments are geo-centric (noms) at 1st before they go that slate before they are placed in a national pool. The candidate from VA slate is not going against the person on the ND slate at 1st.
