report time in PTR Packet

what is the earliest and the latest report time for those who report on June 27? (I think enlisted and NAPS report the day before right?)
 
I am not 100%, but the earliest was 6:00 AM and the latest was 9:00 AM for the non-NAPS Plebes. My son's reporting time was 6:30, but arrived 6:10 or somthing and he did not need to wait to go inside the Alumni Hall. If your reporting time is early, you obviously need to wake up early, but will have enough time to rest and eat lunch. If your reporting time is late, you get to sleep in, but you will be busy and will not have time to eat lunch. Parents, please make sure to bring sandwitches, snaks, and drinks and the picnic sheet when you meet your Plebe after the Oath.
 
Don't worry if family members cannot attend the I-day. Detailers will be handing out cell phones for Plebes to call home and there was a tent of 1966 alumuni (for this year 1967) to support Plebes with no family members, I think. I cannot believe its been almost one year and I can never forget the eyes of my son marching in, but I already forgot some detail stuff, sorry.

Thanks for the information. My DS has a 0700 reporting time and I was wondering how the day would play out. When they are finished processing, where are they permitted to eat lunch, and do they have down time until everyone is finished processing?
 
They get lunch -- in King Hall, not with their families.:smile:

I remember that we were all nervous about being grilled, etc. during the meal. But it is (or, at least, was) RELATIVELY relaxed. Only after you'd taken the Oath of Office, did the fun begin.:biggrin:

Also, agree with the post above re parents attending. If you can do it financially and otherwise, you should. However, if you can't, there will be plenty of support for your DS/DD. They will get food. They will get to call you. I would say that 20-30 minutes after the Oath is much more for the parents/families than the mids. I have zero memory of that time. I assume our class had it but can't remember any part of it. I've no doubt my parents did.
 
Last year, my DS had an early report time of 06:30 and he said he had some down time. If you report early, you have less people in each line. Say, you have a short line to have your hair shaved/cut. He said he spent quite a long time putting his name (alpha code) down on each of the issued item. He finished marking his items early, so he had some down time. USNA does provide lunch, but if your reporting time is late and every line is long, you might not have time to rest or eat lunch. You will recieve a schedule of I-day in a mail or maybe you can download from their website when it gets closer. Your Plebes will check in at the Alumni Hall and after the hair cut and getting many items issued, they will be transported to Mother B (Bancroft) by bus and you will be able to see your Plebes in whiteworks carrying the big white bag near the Mid store if you don't mind waiting long hours under the sun. Enjoy! It is going to be a long but memorable day for parents and Plebes to be!
 
I have a report time at 9 am. All I have to worry about is waking up on time :wink:

And where can we find our alpha code? A lot of the permit to report documents require the alpha code, but I can't seem to find it...

DS received it on I-day last year

Sorry, but I don't have complete copies of PTR with me as my DS took them, but I don't think he needed to have alpha number or code in order to fill PTR forms out. I think most of the forms asked for either candidate # or social security #. Maybe forms have been changed from last year? If that is the case, ask USNA. I remember my DS completing the SF86 after the Plebe summer, so maybe those forms required alpha code. Sorry, but please ask USNA if you cannot find the answer in the PTR instruction.
 
There are detailed instructions with the PTR, including specific help on each form. DS is about 75% through his, including the SF-86 worksheet, and I don't think that Alpha number is required.

The packet also has detailed instructions on what forms should be hand-carried on I-Day, sent in advance, and if sent, where and how they should be delivered. DS is closer to it than I, but I don't recall him saying that anything was to be completed after I-Day or Plebe Summer. It's all done in advance of reporting.
 
You fill out as much as possible on SF 86 worksheet and you later enter information to actual SF86 on-line after the Plebe summer using the worksheet you prepared. Please make sure you make all the copies of PTR forms and bring them with you on an I-day. DS took the originals to be handed in on I-day and copies of all the forms including the ones sent in advance.

Good post. Parents should bring snacks, sandwich, drinks and drop cloth to Stribling for your Plebe. They probably haven't eaten lunch (nerves) and will probably be starving. Mine was. No matter your "report time" they will recognize your DD/DS and usher them in whenever they show up. Showed up early and went to park the car and by the time I got back she was gone. Missed the whole thing until Oath of Office. Great picnic though.
 
DS doesn't report until 0900. So assuming he doesn't eat lunch, what time would the new plebes eat dinner? Just wondering about the snack idea. I can't imagine that he'll want to hurriedly eat a sandwich after the swearing in, especially if they will eat dinner shortly after.
 
After the Oath, DS had enough time to sit down, eat, call, take pictures, etc before marching into the Bancroft Hall. I was not sure if my DS was hungry, but I still brought a light sandwich, fruits (something easy to eat like grapes), snacks (power bar), and cold drinks in a small cooler bag. It was the only moment he was able to relax a little bit, so he ate some. The I- day was very hot and humid so I even brought the ice cold wet towel which he appreciated.
 
There is a little advantage to having an early report time since you will have some time, after processing, to digest what is going on while you're waiting for your classmates with the later report times to be processed. You will feel less rushed.

One thing I've noticed is that they do not really care too much what your report time is. They usually don't even look. They assign those report times just to stagger things throughout the day.

My sons had something like a 0730 report time. We got there early, around 0645. I dropped them off outside Alumni Hall while I went to park my car (I'm an alum so I could drive onto the Yard). I told them, "Wait here, I'll be right back." When I got back, about 5 minutes later - they were gone! My wife wanted to kill me. "Where'd they go?"

Later, after the oath, I talked to my sons and asked, "Where in the heck did you guys go? Why didn't you wait for us to come back?"

They said, "Somebody came up to us and asked, 'Are you new members of the class of 2013?', we said yes and they forced us to go inside Alumni Hall."

If they see your son/daughter hanging around outside the Hall, without any family members, they will probably usher them inside and will not care when their report time is. They just try to keep things moving.
