Question About Additional Appointments?

I'm trying to stay hopeful! My DS is still on HOLD!:frown: I know that appointments can be made up until the day before they are to report. Today is the deadline for the medical waivers for the conditional appointments. Does anyone know if this is traditionally a week that more appointments are offered? My DS's admissions rep said he is "right there" but it is a tough year for our states. We are moving forward with plan "B" in hopes that we will loose the deposit.

I'm in the same situation as post above. If anybody has any news that could save a lot of stress.

CAS,

Some folks fail DODMERB, some folks do not accept the appointment because they have elected to go elsewhere, some bail out at the last minute. You are doing the right thing by having plan B ready, but hopefully "right there" is a sign that you are very close. Good luck, and may the "other" deposit be the best money you ever wasted!

It is good preparation for that last minute "pier head jump" or other last minute change that happens so often in the shipping business (I just finished a cargo survey that came up just hours before).

Some schools will refund the 'non-refundable' deposit is you are accepted to a SA. Back in the day SUNY Maritime did for me. It would be worth checking if your son gets his appointment. We are in the same boat. Just sent in deposit for my son's Plan B.

Best of luck!

I know of someone who was called to report a a Service Academy (not KP) the day before Indoc. Never give up Hope it works out for you.

My advice to those waiting by the phone ... Don't. Have you left anything undone? Do you have any control of the remainder of the process? No?, then don't sweat it. Let it go, save yourself the stress and enjoy the rest of your senior year. As soon as you accept that whatever will be will be is when the phone will ring.

Some of my classmates got the call that day. OK, that day you may want to wait by the phone, but until then ....

Thank you all for you comments and advice! We are going forward with PLAN B... If not this year my DS said he will be back next year! Quote " I have until I'm 25 to get accepted"... He is determined and I have no doubt he will live his dream at USMMA.

It took me three tries to get in and three tries to get out. I have no complaints.

KP Engineer,
I am just wondering, are there two former Mrs. KP Engineers as well?

KP Engineer you are too funny! :yllol:
I managed to squeeze four years of college into eight and in the end can still support a family of six on one salary in Northern Virginia. That should tell you all you need to know about the value of an Engineering degree from KP.

KPE, you are a funny one!

My son's status changed today from 'Hold' to 'Denied'. I guess it wasn't meant to be. He'll be swimming against KP next year at a conference rival. Best of luck to all in the Class of '17.

Is he going to SUNY?
