Hey everybody! I'm a junior in high school right now and am in the process of applying to the USNA. I will list all that I can about me; can somebody tell me what i need to do to improve and how I already look?
GPA: 3.4 (Mostly honors/AP)
SAT: Math: 590 / Reading: 520 / Writing: 550 (I have only taken these once and did not study whatsoever. I will be retaking them in a few weeks and have been studying my brain out.
ACT: I will be taking them in June.
Rank: Approx. 170/600 (My school does not rank but that is an estimation from a guidance counselor)
Extracurriculars: Community Service every wednesday for two hours, i help at a low-income neighborhood in my town.
Sports: 3 years of Varsity Swimming, placing in the state finals championships all three years. I am definitely swimming again next year and going to try to be a captain. Captains are picked your senior year.
Work Experience: At age 14 I worked on a farm the entire summer. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. At age 16 I started working at Camp Ingersoll as a lifeguard for the summer. Again, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I will be returning this summer. I am currently spending a lot of my time landscaping for various houses as well to bring in a little extra experience.
Off Season: I swim all of spring, all of summer, and all of fall up to my high school season. 2.5 hours a day, 4-6 days a week. In the spring I swim after school and in the summer i swim at 0600 before I leave for work.
PRT:
Pushups: 125
Sit Ups: 98
Pull Ups: 28
Mile: 5:53
B-Ball Throw: 97 ft
Shuttle Run: 7.8 seconds
I know this isn't a part of the PRT but I swim the 500 for my high school team and went a 5:02 as a sophomore. This year, as a junior, my coach had me sprinting because we needed them. I went a 52.1 at championships.
Any and all advice is much appreciated! I'm doing everything I can to be appointed next year. Thank you for your time!
