After much thought, my dd declined her appointment this afternoon. She did not want to keep wrestling with the decision and hold the spot until 5/1. She said that too many kids deserve the opportunity now. Good luck!

Reasons?

Just curious, if you care to share, what her reasons were. For instance, took a spot at another academy? AFROTC? Civilian College? Travel/Gap year?

If she simply decided that the academy is not for her, were there specific things that led her to that and did she change her mind after years of wanting to go, or after always being a little bit on the fence?

Good luck to her and thanks for sharing...it was nice of her to decline now so that, as she said, another who is waiting and hoping can get in.

It's probably one of the first major decision kids/young adults have to make. It's much more difficult if there's more than one option. It takes a lot of courage to give something as valuable as a $400+K SA scholarship up but if her heart's not in it 100% and there's a better offer or a perfect fit, someone on the wait list will be happy to take her place. Good luck to your DD- wherever her choice take her.
