Wings of Blue vid...

10:20 - It's not enough that you're jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, falling thousands of feet with nothing but a sheet of fabric holding you aloft, or using that sheet of fabric to land with pinpoint accuracy in an enclosed area in an area the size of a football field, no. None of that is enough.

You have to do a jazzhands slide as you land.

All part of the experience. But yes, good point.

Not required. Summer after 1st year you choose soaring (gliders) or jumping.

also cyber and space options for summer after C4C year

in the past what you got also depended on where you ranked within the class (had to be top ?% to get jump or soaring) but that could have changed

My daughter is WOB and so proud of her. Who knew it hurt to jump through clouds?! You do have to apply and be selected to do jump. Each year, I think they have a couple of hundred apply to WOB and I think they select around 25 to make the team.

Hopefully at USAFA I will get a chance to do Wings of Blue.

That being said:

Check out 6:45 and 10:20. I can only hope that one day...

I'm afraid of heights. That said, that looks that an absolute BLAST! I bought my DS a GoPro black (4000 lines of resolution) helmet camera. He is doing jump this summer. I cannot wait to see the videos!:shake:

Parents, if you love your DS or DD, buy them one of these for Christmas (see http://gopro.com/ ). Cut to the chase and buy the Black Edition. The video quality is STUNNING. Good for some great snowboarding videos too.

When my son did it a few years ago, no personal recording devices were allowed during Jump at the Academy. :frown:

Just how hard is it to make the team? What would one have to do to be selected?

Probably the most exhilarating experience you can go through, especially when you jump out with your own rig knowing that YOU are responsible for deploying the chute.
