Aviation types... What happened here?

I read some of the comments and people were suspecting the load shifted suddenly to the aft on the ascent causing the plane to stall.

From what I have read the crew reported that the load shifted aft on take-off. Improperly secured cargo is suspected. Our thoughts are with the 8 crewmen and their families.

Load Shift..

Load Shift changes the center of gravity, thus unbalanced aircraft. Terrible accident. My heart goes out to the families and loves of the eight.

Pardon my ignorance in aviation, but in trucking, the driver inspects loads before departing even if he doesn't actually load the vehicle. I would hope that a similar protocol exists in the cargo end of aviation.

And yes, it is a horrible tragedy that thankfully (at least nothing was reported) didn't involve ground casualties on top of it.

Some of us don't have to imagine it.

We won't know the answer for a very long time, and there is much speculation about it.

Mechanical failure of the load securing system (I don't know what it is called) could also be a possibility even if they checked, much as such accidents can happen in trucking. However, I will not personally speculate on the cause and wait for the NTSB to reach their conclusions of what happened.

RIP, and prayers to everyone involved.
