Hi everyone.

I was Waitlisted back in February, and since then have improved and resent my PFE score. I will know back by April 15th, but I am wondering if there are any others who are in a similar position?

Thanks!

DS was waitlisted in December. Unfortunately it will likely not be until after May 1 (the final date that those already offered slots have to accept their appointment) before we can start to hope to hear if he'll be selected from the waitlist. We'll have to make a deposit somewhere else by May 1 since we don't know if he'll get to go to CGA or not, but we've assured him we'll gladly give up that deposit and send him north to CGA if he gets that opportunity. Fingers are getting sore from being so tightly crossed.

Oh right!

Oh, you're right, I had completely forgotten that we would have to wait until after everyone has had a chance to accept or decline their appointment to hear back about our own. I hope you're DS gets an appointment!

OK, my son was wait listed today. He's bummed, but its better than the alternative. What, if anything, can we do at this point (other than sending out a deposit check to another college!) Kidding-it's all good, but we have to move it now--the wait is over--except for the "wait" wait. Thank you, I hope everyone reading this received the outcome they were anticipating. I guess I don't need to check back hourly here anymore. Good luck all, and thank you

I personally have already paid my housing deposit and signed up for a New Student Conference at the school I would be attending if I do not get an appointment. Yes, it's a lot of money, but better safe than sorry! Plus, most schools would understand the situation if you are given an appointment, and should be able to refund you some of your money.

That is just what we have done, it's different for everyone!
I hope everything works out!

Our cadet was waitlisted in 2011. Then she made the short list. (We did move forward, due to the May 1st date at other colleges. We put down all the deposits, dorms and she had a roommate.)
When she did get her appointment on June 1st, it was a blur to get ready for R-day in a few short weeks. The after faxing her appointment letter to the college where we invested all the deposits, they refunded everything. They understood it was a military academy and not just a rival school.
I don't know if this info helps or not, but good luck! We had to wait a long time, but she kept sending in updated PFEs (even though they didn't ask for them) and any new awards, achievements, etc.
It is hard to believe our cadet is preparing to be cadre for 2017!! Go Bears!! :yllol:

Thank you Suzie. He's already doing what you have mentioned, although he believes the PFE score he originally sent in could not be any higher. Hard to argue with his logic on that. :), Meanwhile, I've noted to family that the deposit we plan to send in to another university is more than the combined fall and spring tuition price of the city university community college I graduated from back in the early 80's. Double :))) !!! It's all good, we'll get through it. Thanks again. Good luck to your future cadre!!!

DS got an email today saying there are spots now available, and wanting to know if he is still interested in an appointment. Anyone else?

Yes--same e-mail MMMom. Good luck. Made deposit to secondary school. Ouch!!

Thank you Ready for the Challenge. your replies have soothed the nerves here over the past couple of months. It's all in the hands of the man above now. Stupid question here--what does DS stand for? Some of the other abbreviations I've figured out. Plus figured out what cadre means also. I'm not a rocket scientist--that belongs to the young man in the house who was wait listed. Have a good rest of week all. If we hear anything will post. djed

At the bottom left, use the dropdown box to find "Community Information and Feedback". The top Sticky is a list of acronyms.

DS is "Dear Son" or "Dear Spouse"

MMMom, so happy to hear your good news!! Is your DS accepting the offer?

Nicole

That would be bottom right. The other left.:unhappy:

Thanks Nigel! Honestly... I don't know. He's kind of already mentally moved on, but he does love USCGA and it was his first choice for a very long time.

Now that I know what DS means, I'm proud to say our DS just received THE phone call--he was accepted! Good luck to all your DS and DD's. Praying helped. Thank you.

Hello folks--just curious--did any others who read this post get wait-listed and then finally receive an appointment, and if so, how was the process for you? Any luck getting your deposit back from secondary institution after the May 1 deadline? We haven't even attempted that yet, just curious to see how you might have went about it. DS is looking forward to the challenge. All the best. Enjoy reading the various posts. Thank you.
