Click if you want to. This is disgusting. Very few times has anyone here seen this, but I'm pretty much speechless. I know the subject has been started about religion, but I'm disgusted that the military would hire a "Religious Advisor" who is so biased and sees christians as rapists and treasons. Speaks a lot for those who appointed him.

Religious Advisor Calls Christians Rapists and Treasons

Wait wait wait... this advisor is also a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy?

Ask yourself if would have been upset he said "Islam Foundelmentlist, Jewish Extreme, or even Athiest" instead of Evangelical Christians . If they answer is no then you better go back a re-read the oath you swore.

You make some pretty narrow assumptions. This individual has been hired as a "Religious Advisor".... NOT an Islam advisor; Jewish advisor; Budhist advisor; Christian advisor.

It's obvious that he is biased. It's obvious that he doesn't care about ensuring religious tolerance among the various religions or among atheists. This individual has no business be an Advisor.

But to answer your question..... It would definitely upset me if he called ANY religious groups in the military spiritual rapists and traitors. The difference here is.... There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, that if this individual had called US military Islams "Spiritual Rapists and Traitors", they would NOT retain him as an advisor. They would have fired him. They may have gone as far as saying he was promoting a hate crime. He is obviously not unbiased.

Oh; and LITS. We all know that ALL the academies have their share of idiots as graduates.

I am glad to hear that you would have been upset. Now help find away to defend all peoples rights and defend them (and not just your groups)

"Just MY Group's". That's pretty ignorant for you to say. It's ok to have an opinion of this topic, but I think you should know a little more of the people you are accusing of being biased.

Let's put this to an analogy of a topic that's a little closer lately. Sexual abuse/rape. That's been in the news and the academies a lot lately. Would you be ok if the military hired a "Sexual Abuse Advisor"; who's initial comments showed he was sexist? That he said "Most women who accuse of being raped brought it upon themselves". That would definitely tell me that the individual is not fit for that position. The person obviously is biased and can not be objective. Well, this individual is no different. He believes that any military christian who openly talks about their faith should be seen as a traitor and rapist and treated as such.

So, why don't you find a way to defend ALL people's rights and defend them; INCLUDING Christians.

Why should he? He's done his duty to defend "all peoples". But remember, it's not "all people's," it's the U.S. and its allies.

Ah, but that's right, when Christians are attacked, instead of defending them, the immediate response is "now don't you wish you defended a muslim."

Personally, my oath is done. But when it still applied, my job was to defend the U.S., Americans and our allies. On Sunday we could run up the church flag on the ship, and it had a cross. I'm not going to apologize that I think it should be a cross.

But then, I would love to see some evidence. Did he touch on the radical muslim that shot up a group of his fellow service members at Fort Hood. Pretty sound evidence right there.

Same mindset as DHS's terrorists are returning veterans. At least now we can add DOD's insight "right wing Christian veterans." Unfortunately for DHS and DOD, that ignores Fort Hood, Boston, the underwear bomber, the attempted bombing of Times Square, 9/11, the attacks in London.... should I keep going? Boston happens and people want to immediately jump on "they look white, must have been Tea Partiers angry on tax day...

But you know where I'd really like to be? With the Pentagon public affairs staff as this story got out.... no winning on this.

Very true. As I read the article, I did a double-take though.... I had some trouble connected the "he"... WHO? Then it dawned on me.

Want to see a very interesting academy grad? Google "Lt. Eric Shine" from USMMA. Maybe a few posters actually went to school with him. He's got a VERY interesting website.

What has happened to this country?
I would be willing to bet that a good majority of those that serve are some denomination of Christian. Why is being a Christian and having those belief such a bad thing that it is being attacked. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. It seems that some in society want to destroy any reference to religion. I am not a religious person, and I really do not have a problem with people talking to me about God. If I don't want to hear it, I politely tell them so. Some times I do listen and debate or agree with them.
This country is getting destroyed from within.

Isn't this one problem within the military right now to many commanders Saying "Most women who accuse of being raped brought it upon themselves".

Yup. I've said it hundreds of times. Political correctness is destroying our country. I believe that christians need to be tolerant of other religions. But those other religions need to also be tolerant of christians. Men need to be sensitive and tolerant of women, and women need to be tolerant and sensitive to men. Whites need to be tolerant and considerate of Blacks, and Blacks need to be tolerant and considerate of Whites. This can't be just a 1 way - way of thinking.

The military and the academy have taken great strides to make religion available to all it's members. And yes, atheism IS a religion, and that too is available. No one is forced to go to church or listen to preaching. The academy even spent over $50,000 to make an outdoor chaple of sort for those who practiced a more earlthly/nature oriented set of beliefs. But as usual, the last few years has created a lot of Knee-Jerk reactionary measures. Decisions and policies are being implemented by individuals that have no real concern for the people it affects. They simply want to be seen as "DOING SOMETHING". Many times, it appears they are looking for a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. And before anyone says it; NO, no one is being FORCED to listen to any religious evangelizing. So to say people are being spiritually raped is pure Bull.

So you SUPPORT this position??? Probably not. If you don't, then you shouldn't support the identical attitude of this new "Religious Advisor" who is obviously biased against christians. If you defend him, you're being hypocritical.

What is wrong with:

“Leaders at all levels,” the document says, “must avoid the actual or apparent use of their position to promote their personal religious beliefs to their subordinates or to extend preferential treatment for any religion.” It even suggested that noncompliance could result in court-martial.

Seems a little subjective for a court-martial.

Commander Jimmy Cricket says "amen" in the wardroom. Seaman Jackson Michael says "hey, don't promote religion to me!"

And I'm sure that the sexist, who is charge of sexual harrassment and rape prevention, will say some positive things too. Sorry; you can't have it both ways.

The truth is: If Weinstein had called american military muslims traitors and rapists, he would NOT be in this job. If he called american military atheists traitors and rapists, he would NOT be in this job. If he called American military budhists traitors and rapists, he would NOT be in this job. BUT...... He called american military christians traitors and rapists. That's ok..... RIGHT? Sorry, take a stand. YES or NO. You can't have it both ways.

Now; if you believe if he called ANY of the non-christian military members traitors and rapists that he would still be in this job..... then at least you wouldn't be a hypocrite. I would disagree and say that the left would NEVER allow him to stay there. But if you think they would, then at least you're consistent. But don't tell me of things he said that were "Correct". So what. I can tell you a LOT of things that Hitler, Jim Jones, and Bin laden said that were "Correct". Do you want them in charge or advising?

Again help me with the logic:

evangelical Christians are all Christians or are all Christians evangelical Christians

I am deployed as I write this. Just met the AF 2 star Chaplain (HAF/HC) a couple weeks ago, he was very engaged to have his deployed chaplains out and about. I didn't sense any unreasonable level of political correctness. Their was the standard conciderations for "earth based" faiths and those agnostic. But it was very standard and reasonable.

I think the religious consultant should spend some time out here, I recommend August, he would find chaplains indespensable to the health and welfare of our troops. I would have to air evac many more folks for mental health issues if not for the ability to have them talk to a chaplain, without regard to faith.

Its a new generation, we call it the "Dear John Skype", replaced the dear John letter, keeps the chaplains very busy.

This country is getting destroyed from within.

People have claimed "destruction from within" for a hundred changes, from the abolition of slavery to women's suffrage to Roe v. Wade and yet here we are.

I think it's funny that Christians are so infuriated by this, as their reaction is the same as any majority losing their unwritten power to marginalize lesser groups and their inherent freedom from critique.

We have Senators and congressmen who openly call Islam a religion of evil and terror. Where was your outrage then? It's all a matter of whose ox is being gored, innit?
