Another Milestone

I wanted to say congratulations to my son and the rest of the USAFA Class of 2011 on their promotion to 1Lt today! I'm sure the extra $900 a month in pay will be welcomed!

Congrats Stealth_81 to your son and the rest of the class of 2013! Does this also mean that the rest of the cadets "move up" one rank today?

Thank you!

Son is Class of 2011. All of their class promoted from 2Lt to 1Lt today, which is exactly 2 years after their commissioning.

This doesn't affect any of the cadets at USAFA.

Red Mustang Cobra, what pilot doesn't want to have that 650 hp.

OK maybe it's better to just pay off the old one quicker, but one can dream.

A fast car really isn't his style. He still drives my old Excursion that he bought from me when he could have a car at the Academy. For a guy who flies F-16s he surprisingly doesn't care how fast his car goes! His pay raise will probably go toward paying his house off faster.

In percentage terms it's a huge salary increase (over 30%) which combines (a) the promotion from O-1 to O-2 and (b) a salary bump for getting past 2 years of service.

This means that unlike ROTC, academy graduates' active duty commences at graduation.

Stealth you also forgot to add in his 300 a month pay increase for his zipcode regarding BAH.

That O1 to O2 jump with 2 yrs is a nice jump in two ways because it is pay and allowances too.

The 1st 4 yrs for rated are the best because it fells like every yr there is some increase. Next yr he will get a small jump for flight pay and the nice increase of 600 a month for O2 with 3 yrs. Than at 4 yrs he gets O3 with 4 yrs., plus an increase in BAH.

After that time it is a lot of waiting for the next big jumps, @ the 8 yr marker, which are amazing again.
