Hey guys, this is my first post. I'm a freshman, and have been very interested in attending USMA. I'm not going to do the whole "what are my chances" thing, but I will ask, what else should I be doing, and is there any advice? I was on varsity cross country, varsity indoor track, and varsity outdoor track. I was recently elected vice president for my sophomore class, and am on my third year of Chinese. I am active in my youth group, and was also selected to go on a two week summer bridge program in China last summer(which was amazing). I was also president of the NJHS in my eighth grade year. So, any advice?

Biggest advice I've gotten thus far is too keep up grades and take challenging classes. Going to assume you do that though.

Study for the SAT/ACT! And keep in mind about Boy's/Girl's State and SLS in a couple of years.

Look at the stickies posted at the top of the USMA page. There are all sorts of timelines and explanations for what you need to be doing. You are smart to start early!

Thanks, also, my grandfather is a member of the American Legion, and I am eligible to join the Sons of the American Legion. Do you think this would give me an advantage to help me go to Boys State?

Directly to your last question:

Yes being in American Legion will definitely help you in terms of getting into Boys State

I'm curious.... in what way does it help?

My kids' high school made the Boys' State selections through faculty vote.

Biggest advice is work hard on your class rank and your SAT/ACT scores - take them many times if needed, they superscore.
