Questions about MMI packing list

My biggest quandary is about the bedding. They instruct 4-6 flat sheets. These are so hard to find! Since sheets are always sold in sets now, I am only finding very pricey 700-thread count sheets, or super cheap scratchy sheets with bad reviews.

Any advice re: sheets? Brands?
Is a poly blend easier to keep wrinkle-free, or...
Is it so hot in Alabama that poly sheets are uncomfortable?
Regular twin or XL?
Do we seriously need 4-6 pillowcases?
And here's a biggie... Will DD even sleep in the bed, or should we get a sleeping bag?

We will probably get an iron. Should we get a full size ironing board or a table-top?

Also, what is the story with the 4" wide garment bag? Does this store clothes outside of DDs room? I'm having a hard time finding anything to match this description. Any advice where to shop?

Lastly, is there anything you recommend that is not on the list?

Not sure about the quality but I just recently bought a twin flat only sheet at Walmart - my son needed it for a toga lol. I don't know if they had XLongs though.

I did see that MMI sells a garment bag in their book store. I was thinking of ordering that.

This past year, I bought Wal-Mart brand sheets. The beds at MMI are XL twins, but I never slept in my bed, so length did not matter for me. With the blanket they issue, it's more comfortable and efficient to either sleep in a sleeping bag or to put sheets and and blanket on top of the inspection setup. Then in the morning you just roll it up and put it under the bed I also only used probably 3 of my pillowcases.

GET A FULL SIZE IRONING BOARD! It took my room mate and I until Parent's weekend before we were able to get to Walmart to get one. It makes life significantly easier.

You have a 4" bag limit because there is limited space to hang clothes in the closet area. While some barracks had more room, My roommate and I shared about 3.5 ft of hanging space, and your uniform items have to be spaced out along the bar to a set length. My roommate's was slightly bigger, and they never checked this, but it did make everything a tighter fit.

Bring a broom and duster! There is limited number of cleaning supplies in the barracks, and it was awesome to have a good broom to clean with. The ones provided by the school usually left too much dust for inspection.

Hope this clarifies some things. I'll ask a few of the female AoG's from this past year have any other suggestions.

We shipped a table top board and iron to MMI for DS. When asked about it at the Academy, the Chief in charge of the program was very clear they were needed. Size wasn't mentioned at the time, and DS made out fine with the small board. I'm sure a full size board is nice, but storage can be at a premium.

This is all good info. What about money? Are there ATM's if so what bank and are there charges to use it?

For the full size, we just folded it and put it between our two desks. I guess the biggest plus is it'll keep clothes off the floor when ironing. The rooms are always dusty.
As for banking and getting cash, the school has an ATM, but it charges $2.25. There is also a bank in town, but I forgot the name of it. There will be very limited time to get into town for that, though.

For my DS, I ordered the Garment Bag from Amazon (search on Nylon Garment Bag Formal Wear) I ordered Twin XL flat sheets from Target (search for Threshold 300 thread count). Additional items recommended by MMI Admissions: sleeping bag (any color), small fan, power strip, ethernet cable. They also suggested to bring pictures and DVDs.
