---Aim for a 30 or higher composite with Math over a 30 or higher on the ACT---

HS Debate (Considered a sport by state of Arizona): 1 year with intent to go 3 total, Novice-soon-to-be-Varsity

---AIM for a team captaincy in one sport and varsity for both sports. Pretty sure that West Point does not consider debate to be a sport.---

---West Point admissions does rate these "pay-to-attend" programs highly. Other colleges might, though.---

Thanks. I can surely get my SAT and ACT to be in a good range. My class load is almost entirely Honors. As for debate, I know WP doesn't consider it a sport, but it still doesn't hurt to have it. As for team captaincy, most likely not going to happen. As for pay to attend programs, it still couldn't hurt to list it.
Lastly, my work with the GOP helps, yes/no? They are fairly hefty leadership positions.

My class load is almost entirely Honors. .

Do you plan to take AP classes? Honors classes are good, but if your school offers AP classes, you need to challenge yourself by taking some AP classes. JMHO

Did you mean that West Point does NOT rate pay-to-attend programs highly? I am assuming that it's just a typo, but I'm curious to know, because I have been planning on pursuing some of these same types of programs, thinking they'd help my app.

For the love of god, read the "what are my chances" thread.

If you read through the last 50 of theses threads, you'll notice that they all give roughly the same advice based on info in that thread. Learn to read critically and look for answers on your own before asking someone else. That's a skill that will serve you well

Hi,

Your work with a political group will have little objective weight in the application process.

Activities such as Class President, Varsity Team Captain, Varsity Letter winner, Boys State, Eagle Scout, National Award Winner (not based on a test score) will significantly affect your Whole Candidate Score as they receive an objective score. To a lesser extent, club president will objectively add to your score.

Activities such as political group participation, volunteer activities, etc. will be subjectively evaluated.

Since you have many activities that could be subjectively evaluated by Admissions, I recommend that you send in a one page resume with your application. The West Point Candidate Activities Report (CAR) is geared to your selecting from lists of activities. Sending in the 1 Page resume will help the admissions office to give you additional points. Send this in when you complete your online CAR. Again, 1 page. Most admissions officers handle 2000-3000 files a year.

PS. Just a word of advice on Service Academy Forums (SAF) etiquette. When you present your stats and ask for feedback and then respond to feedback with how you won't be able to achieve what the feedback said, you open yourself to be flamed by other posters (See BigBear's post). If you weren't open to changing your activities and appear to instead just be looking to receive affirmation that your current course is current, you shouldn't have come to the forums. Saying statements like, "As for debate, I know WP doesn't consider it a sport, but it still doesn't hurt to have it. As for team captaincy, most likely not going to happen. As for pay to attend programs, it still couldn't hurt to list it" appears flippant.

Good luck during the process:thumb:

:thumb: I got tired of seeing these kinds of threads pop up before I even started my application!

You can certainly say were active in junior politics without throwing support either way.
