Social Media During Swab Year

Hey everyone! This might be a stupid question, but what are the exact rules about social media that we need to be aware of prior to reporting in? Do our Facebook accounts need to be "deactivated" or just not logged in anywhere? And as far as Instagram and twitter go, I'm not sure if there is a way to deactivate them.. so do we delete them? And what about snapchat and Skype?

Thank you for any/all input. We just want to cover our bases and do what we need to do before R-Day!
 
They need to be deactivated and deleted.

No Facebook,
No Skype
No Instagram
No Instant Messenger
No Twitter
No Myspace (if that's still a thing)
No Youtube
No Movies
No Netflix
No Online Videos (other sites)
And as the class of 2016 will tell you, No Instagram

If you can't deactivate it, you have to delete it.

You'll get a full list of expectations the first week of the Academic year, but these have been the ones for the past four years.

The academy will assign you an email account so yes, you will have email access. Just be smart and follow the expectations. A large majority of the class of 2016 enjoyed a week if restriction for Instagram, and that was about a week before carry on was granted to them in April!

Honestly, these restrictions are for 2017's benefit. I didn't realize it when I was a freshman but avoiding those distractions makes it much easier to focus on school and perform well. People fail out every semester, this is sort of a safeguard to assist freshman with learning time management.

By the way...see you in 2 weeks :)

Oh yes, I am so locked on STN. I just can't help it sometimes. :biggrin: You would know all about how locked on I am. You're going to ruin my image. :yllol:

What STN is referring to is that freshman will be allowed to access Social Media during leave periods. Thanksgiving is always up in the air though. My class could have it during Thanksgiving while 2016 could not. It just depends. It is a lot of fun to have it during leave and see what has been going on with friends from high school.

I was actually referring to how you were spending your leave on SAF helping prepare incoming swabs for the adventure that awaits them... an adventure that you're going to play a very heavy hand in :eek:

Actually as of a few hours ago, I am here.

25 days after I left connecticut.

And hey, I have to have something to do before I get underway forever :eek:
