DS got a piece of mail today with his pin number, but he hasn't received anything else from the credit union (account number, info, etc.). Should he have gotten something by now? Has anyone received anything from them?

I got a PIN number and card first with directions to get online banking. A few days later I received 5 starter checks, more instructions, and an account number. Overall it was three or four pieces of mail spread out over several days.

Also, they can go online or call to order more checks. But do they need checks for anything in their academic future. The letter said the "military" checks are free... does that mean only the ones with Navy/ARmy/AF/Marines?

Pretty much the same story as "asdf" I have received several pieces of mail over the past 2 weeks with the pin number being the first and my last piece I received today which was my first bank statement showing that I had 0 dollars in the bank. I'm pretty sure the only checks that come free are the basic checks with no pictures. In the pamphlet of checks I received it had prices beside all of the other checks.

Starter checks

Does anyone else find it at least mildly amusing that the themes on the 5 Navy Federal Credit Union starter checks are (in order, from top to bottom on the perforated sheet):

ARMY
MARINES
NAVY
AIR FORCE
MICKEY & FRIENDS

What's up with the 5th one?

OK. Today he got his debit card, but still no account number, statement or checks. Tried to activate the debit card, but the access number is apparently on the statement. We leave on Monday to travel to MD, so hopefully he'll get something in the next day or two. I'm guessing there really won't be a need for him to access his account during plebe summer, anyway. It's not like he'll be ordering pizza or anything. Am I correct?

He should be able to use goof old-fashioned cash for his MidStore purchases or for food if they go to the baseball game. And, he may be able to activate at USNA - there's an NFCU within Bancroft Hall

Ah, I can only assume the 5th one is the Coast Guard. Mickey Mouse is Steamboat Willie. Steamboats used to explode, and after a number of lives were lost over the years, the U.S. federal government created the Steamboat Inspection Service 1871. Eventually it was merged with the Bureau of Navigation to become the Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation. And later, in 1946 the Bureau of Marine Inspection and Navigation was perminately moved into the U.S. Coast Guard. So, I assume NFCU was just getting a little creative with Coast Guard history.

Oh my ... I had no idea  If your assumption is correct, it would seem that NCFU has a fairly biting sense of humor.
