Couple questions, please:

Reading the website's tryout information, it states tryouts are in the spring and that any candidates interested in trying out must attend the information brief before tryouts...do they not attend the three day clinic prior to the tryouts then?

Is Cheerleading an IC? It says they are working hard to grow the team and that they train and compete as well as other activites from August to May.

How are the men treated within the brigade and beyond?

Thank you!

Cheerleading is an ECA, but it has special exemption privileges (30 per season, Fall and Spring). Google on the document below, and go to pages 7-8:

COMDTMIDNNOTE_1710_SPORTS_TEAMS_AND_ECA_EXEMPTIONS_AND_EXCUSALS.pdf

There is a sports day early during Plebe Summer, and the Cheerleaders are available there. They held two workouts/practices for interested Plebes last week. Tryouts for Plebes will be in early August.

I cannot speak to the brigade reaction, etc., but my DD (a Plebe) is currently positioned to be a stunt flyer on the co-ed squad if all goes well at tryouts, and she is psyched.

OysterMom,

Thank you, that is a great document!

When we read about the spring tryouts for candidates, we were wondering how that would work; makes sense that for plebes it would be when they got there!

Good luck to your DD!
