Car accident?

I was just involved in a car accident (my car lightly bumped into front car, minimal damage, no one hurt).

The officer took the incident lightly and instead of issuing me a full crash accident/ticket report, he gave me what he called a zero point ticket (not sure what this is).

The report said I was impeding traffic and the officer said it would not go on my personal record. He also said it would be like a parking ticket (a much less severe version of a parking ticket)

What should I do? Should I report this to the Academies or not? The officer said no record would exist, but if the Academies check the police records, I'm sure my violation would be in the police's computer system.

Thoughts, suggestions? Thank you

I'm a stickler on reporting stuff. However, this is no big deal and I wouldn't make any point of reporting it unless asked directly or there is a specific question about car accidents. You don't report parking tickets unless its a continuing problem. However, if it makes you fell better, go ahead and report it. It's not big deal and will not have any significance to your application.

Read the forms carefully, and if you think a question fairly calls for you to disclose this, disclose it. It is very minor and will not be a problem. You don't want to try to game the system at all, though. What you got sounds similar to a "fix it" ticket and maybe isn't even considered a "moving violation," technically, but if you get asked about moving violations I would disclose this just in case.

I looked up some stuff, and I am sure I got a moving violation. So, should I list this on my apps (also applying to ROTC and big 3 SAs) or wait until asked?

Read the form (Candidate Personal Data Record) as it specifically lays out what you must report from both a law enforcement and a school discipline scenario. Furthermore, if you are selected, you will have to put in for a security clearance which requires a background check. That tends to dig up everything and you wouldn't want it to not match your CPDR.

+1 to 834something. From my quick perusal it looks like if there is a fine involved you'll need to report it on this form. Like I said earlier, this is no big deal and will not jeopardize your chances.
