Rallypoint.com, Sort of a LinkedIn / Facebook for military personnel...
Anybody?

I have. Was invited by a military buddy to use it but I haven't gotten around to make a profile.

I saw a video demonstration. It looked interesting. Then I asked the question, "Most military organizations use FaceBook anyways; why switch?"

Hey everyone... I was told about this question on the forum. I'm the CEO and Co-Founder of RallyPoint.

We get the "why switch" question a lot... it's a good question. The answer is that you actually shouldn't switch... because RallyPoint is not intended to replace Facebook. Facebook is great for social stuff, sharing common interests, pictures of your family, vacation, friends, etc. It's also good for a one way distribution of information (i.e. CJCS to everyone else).

RallyPoint on the other hand is a professional network... where E-5s connect with O-5s and E-3s connect with E-9s (this rarely happens on Facebook). It's also a place where military members can learn about the career decisions others have made in their military career, and also a place where cadets and midshipmen can connect with members of their future military units.

Cadets for example can see who else is going to be assigned in their future unit, and start to prepare together. Similarly, service academy grads can see who is coming to their unit in the future, and be a mentor to their unit's incoming members.

Members can also see who is stationed near by them, and even discover new career opportunities in over 3000 duty locations around the world.

There is a lot more to it, but these are just some of the highlights. In summary, RallyPoint is by no means trying to replace Facebook (that would be impossible). Instead, we build a professional network where military members can engage in activities that progress their military career and connect them based on detailed common military interests (your military specialty, rank, duty location, past units, qualifications, etc. etc.).

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have otherwise. We have many service academy students (over a third of the USAFA is on RallyPoint for example), and many service academy alumni on RallyPoint.com.

Our advisors include Gen (Ret.) Norton Schwartz (USAFA '73), Admiral (Ret.) John Harvey (USNA '73), LTG (Ret.) Ben Freakley (USMA '75).

Thanks for your time and interest.

I'll add one other quick thing I forgot to mention...

RallyPoint is a great place for everyone in the military to professionally network... so ROTC students can connect with Service Academy students, and we've even seen many military professors connecting with students.

This way everyone serving together can easily build a strong and permanent network across the entire DoD. Once you connect on RallyPoint, your network can help give you transparency into nearly every military unit out there. We also have ROTC/Academy alumni who have transitioned to the private sector, so when you're ready for that move, there are others there to support you in the transition as well.

If you have any questions... I would be happy to address them.

I was about to say...I used to work with the co-founder, but I see Yinon is on here working his magic.

Rally point is good stuff. It's like LinkedIn, which is Facebook without the ****fits and cat pictures.
