No! Absolutely not. Actually it may work against your ultimate goals
Does it help ypur chances to enlist while applying for a NROTC MO scholarship [sic]
My recruiter tried to tell me something similar about how it would help to enlist in the Reserves as a senior in high school, and that it would show the scholarship board "your dedication to being a Marine".
I'm no expert, only an applicant, but I personally don't think that would be a good idea if you only want to be an officer.
For one thing, we could get into a war before you go off to college, and being enlisted you could be deployed even though you are waiting for a scholarship
So you didnt enlist
I never planned to. I went to the recruiter (which probably wasn't the best source) get info about the USMC because at that point I was unsure if I wanted to do navy or Marine option ROTC.
In all fairness, he did give me info about nrotc, but he also highly suggested I that I should do the reserves while I waited on the scholarship.
He also said I should do NROTC instead of USNA or VMI, because I might "get burned out with the military lifestyle before I commission"
Which all seemed pretty fishy considering he wasn't an officer
