I have read in the past how helpful Larry Mullen was in the Dodmerb process. His email posted has returned invalid. Does anyone know if he is still in that position?

I had some interaction with Mr. Mullen in the spring (March or April) 2013. He was still at DoDMERB at that time. Not sure if he is still there or not. I will say DoDMERB seems to be a different animal under the current director. You will notice That Mr. Mullen signed off in 2009 or 2010 for the last time. I think that coincided with the retirement of the previous director. I believe the previous director encourged his staff to interact with folks on this forum in hopes of calmimg fears and helping to get canidates through the medical process. I'm not certain the current administration is as "customer friendly". To my knowledge there is no representation from DoDMERB posting and or proactivly helping as seen in the previous years. I will say there is a great amount of DoDMERB knowledge on this forum so feel free to ask away.

Mr Mullen did announce his withdrawal from active involvement a couple of years ago. If you were to go back into the DODMERB archives you may find helpful information for your particular situation. Having said that I would point out that what is waiverable and what supporting information will be required tends to be a moving target. Mr Mullen was a very great asset to this site!

Concur that Mr. Mullen was a wonderful asset - both here and in person.

He attended a SA Congressional Open House when my DD was in the application process. She had a LOA and Nom so when she approached Mr. Mullen to inquire about her medical status (broken ankle and concussion as a junior) and right there he pulled up her record from his laptop and informed her that she had been cleared by DODMERB. Needless to say her feet barely touched the ground the rest of the day.

My younger sister, who is an ALO and lives in Colorado Springs, sent me brochures from CAPT Glenn Merchant, MC, USN who retired in 2011 and was DoDMERB's 12th Director. He apparently has started a DoDMERB consulting firm. Maybe Mr Mullen is working with him. My sister says she has had no candidates with personal experience with his organization, but that she spoke to him at length and passed his brochures to me in case I had any candidates with sticky medical history. I don't know the exact rules of this forum, so I won't post his information, nor am I endorsing it, but I will send it to you if you PM me. I'd be very interested in getting more specific information from someone who used his services.

4thgennavy, I would appreciate if you could send me the information regarding the brochures concerning Capt Glenn Merchant, MC, USN. My son is having difficulty receiving medical waiver for his Army ROTC scholarship. my email is mcmills@nationwide.com. Thanks, Steve

Mr. Mullen was the best and the former Director during my DD application was also right up there with many personal conversations during difficult times. Had the great honor to meet Mr. Mullen at a SA Meeting. Two great men with the idea as the director said "We don't keep them out we get them in"
