I have been disqualified by DoDmerb for having Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ) in my jaw. This has never been a problem for me and it is healed. I am surprised that it even came up to DoDmerb. Is this minor condition easily awarded a waiver? Can I appeal this decision by submitting a specialist's letter describing that this is not at all a problem and does not constrain me? If so, should I have the doctor send the "letter" directly to DoDmerb?

Do you grind your teeth when you sleep or does your jaw hurt when you wake in the morning?

Medical TMJ

I do not grind my teeth to my knowledge. I do not feel any more significant pain in the mornings.

Obviously I have a narrow focus, but an anxiety disorder can be comorbid with TMJ. If none of the symptoms I listed apply to you, then I'm truly clueless to your disqualification.

Ok, first off I'm not going to flog you for posting so many places on this forrum. My advice is to refer to the DoDMERB section concerning this matter moving forward.
1) Draft a letter to DoDMERB explaining that the condition does not effect/hinder you in any way. This will likely not change anything but it cost nothing but some effort on your part.
2) Have you MD and or DMD draft a letter about the TMJ. Hopefully is is a letter in your favor. If the letter is favorable then make sure you send it to DoDMERB so thay can add to your file so that it can be reviewed during the waiver review.
3) Make a plan B,C, and D.
4) Stay focused, healthy and out of trouble.
