Hey all. It's that time of year again. Parent's weekend; 1st game of the football season; and Thudgate. The largest tailgate west of the Mississippi. Look forward to seeing many of you again and many for the first time. A little info. We've MOVED!!! Believe it or not, we got "TOO BIG". The stadium has given us a dedicated location now. It's really in a good place. Basically, on the south side, right behind the scoreboard. Off center a little. See pictures below. We're actually part of the "Corporate Sponsor" tailgating section. We do a bit of contributing. Look forward to seeing you all there. And the 2nd to last picture, so you noobies know who we are; (We have 5 mike's at thudgate) is me and my wife (In Blue, of course), and our son between us. He's a 2012 grad. Mike....

when was the pic taken?

i hope those pics weren't taken DURING PARENTS WEEKEND!!!

What; you've neve been to Colorado Springs on Labor Day Weekend??? :shake:

Actually, the last 2 pics were taken during a November game. But for those of you coming from out of the Rockies; I do suggest bringing some warm clothers for parent's weekend. It could easily be 90+ degrees out. But it could also be 60 degrees. Currently; the highs are in the mid 80's; but at night, the lows are in the 50's. be prepared.

When my parents asked what to bring for graduation, I told them to bring everything! Turned out to be a wise choice.

Yea; the last couple of graduations have had some funky weather. I think most of the front range of the rockies is off by about 2 months. Most of the country sees "Spring" in April-May. The front range gets a large portion of their snow that time of year. Most of the country starts cooling down and becoming "Fall" in September. The front range doesn't really start getting hot til mid-July and doesn't truly cool down until October. First in town snows usually happen in November. Even November and December isn't that bad here. It's that Jan-March that really sucks.

But the one constant with the weather on the front range is........... "There IS NO Constant". This past "Spring", we had mid-high 70's on a monday; Tuesday and Wednesday we had 12-18 inches of snow with highs in the 30's. Thursday and Friday everything was about melted and we were back to the high 70's.

Gonna miss seeing you all there! For the new parents, do stop by! It's fun, and you can put some faces to some names!

Besides, at parents weekend, it's a rule: Air Force always wins!

Start chilling the Weed my friend...

I will definitely be at the Wyoming game..."possibly" PW's game...and maybe the Class of 1983 reunion game!

And my father wants me there for the Army game as it's the day before my birthday...

I may put a serious dent in the Weed!!

You got it my brother. You know we'll have plenty.

Can't Wait

Hi Mike, Thanks for the intel. We'll be there and packing one bottle of JW to contribute to the cause. PW#4 for us! See you soon, Mike and Cris

Its weird going to parents weekend and not being a parent. Its also weired that not only hasmy son graduated from the academy, but he's already 1 year completed on grad school. But parents weekend means opening day for falcon football season, plus I get to see my military family again. Its always a great weekend and game. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

BUMP!!!

Don't forget. If you're coming to parent's weekend, then you're most likely coming to the football game. You'll have time to see your cadet's bar-b-que, but definitely swing by Thudgate, Best and biggest tailgate west of the Mississippi. Look forward to seeing all the online friends there.

A Toast to the Host!!!

Make sure you join us at Thudgate; so we can honor those who have served, those who are serving, and those no longer with us.

Just an FYI. Tactical Nuke; our administrator; is setting me up with a batch of business cards promoting our Service Academy Forums. When you come to Thudgate during parent's weekend, make sure to remind me you're one of the REGULARS on this forum. I plan on handing out business cards to everyone I see at Parent's weekend; but if you're a forum regular, I'd like to give you quite a few cards so you can also hand them out when you come across interested people. Especially back home. Sometimes my brain doesn't keep screen names and actual names together. (I'm getting old). So make sure when you come by Thudgate, even if it's only for a couple minutes, that you don't forget to ask be for some service academy forum business cards.

See you all Saturday. GO FALCONS!!!

Final bump for Thudgate parents weekend. We will be setting up starting at 8:30 am. Its never to early to get started. Don't forget to ask for some forum business cards. Maybe your cadet can hand some to interested squadron members. If your cadet feels they benefitted from our forum, this would be an excellent way to pay it forward.

See you all at Thudgate tomorrow. Mike.

P.s. Steve. (Flieger). You going to be there?

Mike,

I am unable to get up to USAFA until the Wyoming game...at least as of today. I "may" be able to change that...

Odds are currently that I'll be there for WY, then ND, and MAYBE Army...

Totally up to the school/Grad school Gods at this time.

Understand. I'll save a box of cards for you and I will definitely save some weed for you too. I bought a lot of it. Miss ya brother. But we'll get together soon. Mike.

Excellent day, game, and Thudgate. It was great seeing many of you. Some for the first time and some that have become long time friends. If any of you are coming to any of the future falcon home games, Thudgate is always there. Hope to see you all again soon. Mike.

J.E.A.L.O.U.S.

It seems I cannot figure out what to do with "Labor Day Weekend" since we spent such great times in Colorado while the boys were at USAFA.

I hope all the new parents popped in (and the old parents too!).

Just got back to paradise...just letting y'all know, I was REALLLLLY planning on stopping by and say ALOOOHAAAA....but we just got caught up meeting a lot of DS friends and parents and I think we we're at the opposite end of the football parking lot.:frown: anyway...DS was in charge of the bbque and we had a good time eating and "baking" in the sun. We will definitely stop by next year for sure. :thumb:
