I'm a C4C and my cell phone service (virgin mobile, which is powered by sprint) isn't very good. I'm trying to figure out which new service provider to purchase. I've heard verizon is really good, I'm also considering T-mobile and AT&T.

I live in Vandenberg, so I know that doesn't help. But even in other buildings it's not very good.

Thanks!

Son lived in both Vandy and Sijan with AT&T and never had reception problems.

There are numerous discussions about this on here, but I used At&t and had no problems in any location except the very lowest parts of the gym.

Verizon was always good for me in Vandy, but surely your squadron mates can give you a better answer as to what is best in your specific part of the building...

My son has ATT. Spent last year in Vandy and is there again this year. He's never had any trouble.

Phone Service

My DS is a C4C in Sijan and has no problems with Verizons. But we were told that your dorm has the best Verizons service on campus. Borrow a friends phone with different service and test it for yourself.

I live in Vandy and have AT&T, and have found their service in CO in general to be very unreliable. There are times where it works just fine, and other times where I can't even send a text message. If I had the choice to change right now I'd switch to Verizon- they appear to have the best service for the area from what I've seen.

Let it be known that the Colorado Springs area has been rated the 2nd worst reception area in the country! My son uses T-Mobile there, a 4G service, and has had fairly good success. But realize that there are mountains to the west and accept the fact that it won't be good in all areas of USAFA. But as other posters have mentioned, Verizon does a good job.

My kids eventually had Verizon and in general had very few problems, but when they had the pay-as-you go Track Phone - ugh! it was awful.

Ask your squadmates... they'll know best.

Let the record say that I haven't yet had the slighted trouble with TracFone. That said, I'm a C4C who just had her phone confiscated. But Sijan Tower and Vandy by the C-store appear to be OK for reception.

Tracfone! Cheap and you get what you pay for. DS used his tracfone until Parents' Weekend of his C3C year. Has been a resident of Sijan since 2011 and loves his Verizon service.

Location might matter. DD has Verizon & was in Vandy 1st year, no problem. Moved to Sijan, inner room (looking out on inner courtyard) 2nd year, could rarely hold a call. Now has outside room and no (reported) problems.
