Any idea what the estimated cutoff for active duty will be for this year (fy14). I've heard that it will actually be slightly above 80.00. Does this sound correct? My LAMS accessions ended up being a little over 83. How will this fair for active?

If you haven't heard it from your cadre, I wouldn't put much into it. Considering that in FY11 the Average for AD was a fraction of a point under 80, I would find it difficult to believe that the overall average has moved enough or they've cut down the AD number that much to make 80 the cutoff. Yes GPAs are slightly higher on average, but not that much. The movement of the curve hasn't been that great year to year.

Your cadre will give you some guidance as to where you stand on the OML before your final branch selection/ADSO paperwork is due. You can tune your ADSO choices at that time.

Every year there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the "So Called" AD Cutoff number.

First you have to realize how the process works, which I'm sure you've been briefed on.

I'll just use some basic numbers;

Let's say there are 5400 AROTC cadets that will graduate this year.
1800 are GRFD or select Reserves or NG, this leaves 3600 cadets.
These 3600 cadets all want AD
Now the Army has to decide how many AD 2LT's they need this year.
The Army decides they need 3100 AD 2LT's
The bottom 500 cadets are sent to Reserves or NG
The 3100 selected now move to the AD OML.

Cadet Command and the Army does not just pick a cutoff number, that number can change every year, sometimes higher, sometimes lower, depending on how the OMS point are spread out over all the cadets.

Basically, the OMS score of the last cadet that makes the AD OML is what the cutoff number is for that year. That number is not picked in advance. The Army decideds how many AD 2LT's it needs that year, the last OMS number just happens to be the number of the last cadet on that list.

So don't worry what the last OMS number will be, worry about how many AD 2LT's the Army needs this year.

My guess is that you will be fine getting AD, again it all depends on how many AD 2LT's they take this year.

Goaliedad,

It is very clear that you type much faster then I do.

Great advice as usual.

I'm praying that I get it. I know that the cutoff numbers have fluctuated in the past. Hopefully my 83 points will squeeze me by for active. Thanks for your responses guys!

Again, there are no "Cutoff Numbers" set in advance by Cadet Command

There "is" a set number of AD slots for 2LT's which the Army will decide for this year.

Don't worry about what your number is, It all has to do with how many AD slots they choose to make available.

You should be ok, unless everyone above you were real high achievers.

What are thinking of listing as your branch choices?

Best of luck.

Well my choices are #1 Medical Service, #2 Engineer, #3 Quartermaster...then from there it doesn't matter to me as long as it's on the active side. I've been in the Reserves for 6 years (Medic) and I'd love to get active and make it a full time career instead of part time.

They have fluctuated, but not even close to 80. Unless this year is radically different for some reason I wouldn't waste any sleep worrying about it.

Traditionally MS slots are VERY limited. Good luck and continue to maintain your EMT-B, even after commissioning.

Your top two are rather competitive and unless you fall into a certain risidual fill percentage I don't see you getting them. Quartermaster is a shoe in.

I have a 90.40 shooting for AD MI, I know I might get detailed but I'm okay with that

Have fun sitting in a room with no windows staring at a computer, tell me when the 007 part of the gig kicks in.:thumb:

I'm green to gold with 5 years active duty, in MI before enlisted so I know what the job is about.

Then I am sure you are aware of the major differences between enlisted and officer MI specialties.
