Problem with info provided to Army CC by Guidance Counselor

DS guidance counselor responded yesterday to the email from CC. DS application dashboard has already been updated to reflect the response. However, it looks as though the counselor made a mistake when keying in the ACT scores. It was our understanding that CC super scores the ACT. However, it looks as though the counselor only provided the breakdown of the highest composite score, not the highest combined score. DS sent a message to CC last night through the portal. Does anyone happen to know about how long it will take for DS to receive a response from CC?

If you sent your scores from the testing agency, you'd think that CC would trust those more than your guidance counselor, or be able to calculate the superstore based on what ACT/SAT sent them.

I agree, but here's what's making me uneasy: DS initially did a screen shot of test scores and uploaded them. Then, to err on the side of caution, we paid to have the scores sent directly from the testing agency. When CC rec'd those scores, they got rid of the upload of the screen shots and replaced it with an acknowledgement that they had rec'd the scores from the testing agency. DS told me last night that when CC rec'd the scores from the testing agency, the scores disappeared from the Academics tab. I don't remember one way or the other about that. Then, after the counselor sent the email response to CC yesterday, we noticed last night that the "incorrect" ACT scores were showing on the Academics tab. Therefore, DS thinks the counselor provided the wrong scores. I hope what I'm saying makes sense. But, either way, a message was sent to CC to let them know that the scores showing on the Academics tab do not reflect super scoring. I definitely agree with you that CC would use the testing agency's scores, rather than the scores provided in an email by a guidance counselor. I just don't like the fact that DS is not getting the benefit of super scoring. I'm hoping it can be rectified soon.

We have gotten answers back in 24 - 48 hours I think. We asked if the guidance email was the same as the form we can print out, and they never really answered the question, just said they would re-send the e-mail to the counselor. However, DS left the printed form for the counselor, but has not been able to touch base with him to see if he ever got the emailed form or not.

Thanks for the info. about the response time. We had printed out the form, but had not yet taken it in to the guidance counselor. Last week was the first week of school and it was near impossible to get in to see them since they were so busy with schedule changes, etc. (there's about 3000 kids at his school, so I have no idea how many of them his counselor is responsible for). Since nothing had changed in a while on DS dashboard with regard to CC getting a response from the guidance counselor, he went to see his counselor yesterday & was, thankfully, able to get in. The counselor said that he had received the email, but just had not yet had a chance to respond. He went ahead and filled in the information requested while DS was standing there and submitted it to CC. DS said the counselor had his own portal that he had to log into. He couldn't really see the specifics of what it looked like, so he doesn't know if it resembles the form we printed out, or not. He didn't leave the printed out form with him. I can't remember what DS said about his h.s. transcripts getting sent in. I can ask him tonight what the counselor said about that.

Update on Incorrect ACT Scores

Well, DS received an email today from someone at CC in response to his inquiry a couple of days ago. He called me from school so I haven't seen it yet. But, basically I'm still a bit confuzzled. The email confirmed that CC does, in fact, super score the ACT & SAT (which we already knew). The person instructed DS to upload his test scores and that they would make the correction. Well, DS has already uploaded a screen shot of his ACT & SAT scores (all sittings). Plus, I recently paid to have the official scores electronically sent to CC (all sittings)! As I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread, when CC received the electronic scores, they got rid of the screen shot that DS had uploaded. So, unless we upload yet another screen shot of the scores, or I pay (yet again) to have them electronically sent, I'm not quite sure what else they want us to do. Should I have DS send back a response email letting them know that they already have official electronic scores for all test dates taken, and ask if they need them to be sent again? Or should he just take another screen shot and upload it (very "unofficial" method)?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

JMO, so take it for what's it worth. Taking the screen shot and uploading it isn't too troublesome so I would do that. Sometimes you need to go with the method that will be the easiest "trigger" to the system. Good luck.

why don't you narrow your email question to cc: to specifically this:

"what ACT scores do you show in the system for me? I cannot find them on my portal"

That's all you need to know. They either have the correct scores, or they don't. They will Superscore on their own.

this is OT, but I find in business that getting very specific, vs. general, with a question gets better answers. I also find that asking more than one question in an email leaves one if the questions unanswered a lot of the time. If I HAVE to ask more than one quesiton in an email, I separately list and number each question. That way when the respondent omits one answer, I can flip the email right back with -- "I don't see an answer to question #2". In general (I mean 52.62% of the time) people HATE giving specific answers to specific quesitons, so they either 1) make up an answer, 2) guess at an answer, 3) pretend you didn't ask the question, or 4) answer a question you didn't ask that is similar to your actual question.

Isn't that the truth!

You are exactly right about the email thing! I deal with it in my work way more than I would like -- absolutely drives me nuts!

Since we're not cutting it too close to the deadline for submitting the application, I think I'll follow your suggestion and have DS send a response to the email and ask CC specifically what scores they have in their system. If I don't like their answer, then I'll do as Kinnem suggested and have DS upload a screen shot again.

Thanks for your input!

Update

DS discovered that there is no longer a spot on the application where he can upload another screen shot of his test scores. Once CC recd the electronic scores from the testing agencies, they got rid of the spot for him to upload the scores himself. So, he sent a reply to CC's email to find out what scores they have in their system and if they are able to make the correction based on the information they have. He also said that if they still need him to upload his scores, to please let him know where in the application portal he is able to do that. So, I guess we're in a holding pattern for a couple more days.

Scan and Email the Test Results

Future2LTMom,

Scan and attach the results in an email to CC.

Great News!

Just found out that CC has already corrected error on DS ACT score! DS just sent them a response email last night. I'm so happy that this was relatively easy to get fixed. I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised.

In my interaction with CC on a medical waiver request I have always found them to be exceptionally helpful, professional and courteous. Their response is very fast especially considering the shear volume of phone calls and emails they handle. Keep up the good work CC.:thumb:
