Cadet for a Day Question

I was just wondering what I should wear to the Cadet for a Day program. I am a male. Additionally, what else should I bring to the program and what should I expect? Thanks.

Slacks and a button down shirt. You may need a jacket based on the weather. Go conservative-ish. Depending on the cadet you are paired with you may find yourself in a class way over your head. Don't let it worry you. (My son ended up in a 3/c calculus class.) Be zen. Also, his cadet had late rack in the morning, and forgot to get him to breakfast. My son rolled with it. Cadet felt really, really bad. Cadet was reg staff for son's swab summer. So you never know what impression you'll make, or on who. Just sayin'...

Agree with the above. A polo and khakis is fine too. You don't need to wear a suit or a JROTC/Sea Cadet/CAP uniform, cadets will actually prefer that you don't. I still remember the kid who came my freshman year in a full business suit complete with a pager as well as the kid who showed up in his CAP uniform as a Cadet Major (or something like that) and told us not to worry about saluting him. Really?

I also recommend bringing clothes to workout in if you're interested in a sport as well as clothes to hangout in at night so that you're comfortable. I also suggest bringing some homework or something to do. Chances are its early enough in the semester that your host or the 4/c they give you to will freely talk to you with no issues but understand that they are most likely taking 20-22 credits so they may have work.

Most of all, just be yourself! Ask questions and try to get to understand cadet life! If you're coming this week, its a great week to get to know the Corps as its MMA week! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Pager eh? Drug deals out of Chase Hall, or just prepared to return to the E.R.?

"Don't salute me." reminds me of an unfortunate Sea Cadet who told swabs to call him Chief on EAGLE (this was before my phase). At some point he was triced in his rack (bottom rack), as "someone" poured water near him and told him ole Dirty Bird was sinking. Needless to say, the "chief" thing stopped, any by time time my phase got to EAGLE, he has a nice comfortable top rack to puke from (he was a puker... in nice clear ziplock bags...).

Trying to schedule flights for upcoming Cadet for a Day. When is the program over on Friday? When are they dismissed? Approx how long does it take to get to airport in Providence RI from CGA?

Don't quote me on this because it might be earlier but I believe the program ends at 10 or 11 on Friday, definitely no later than that. It takes about 45-50 minutes to get to PVD airport. Its a straight shot up 95N.

Maybe Objee can help out with the exact time.

I'd say 45 mins - 1 hour. There are a couple areas that slow down a tad, but in generall, it's moving at a good clip.

Ah...maybe I should clarify that if you happen to be from New Jersey, it will only take you 45 minutes.
