Hey guys

I am filling up a prelim app for USMA, what are the requirements? do I have to be competitive to even apply? (ie does my class rank in high school need to be top of the line as well as test scores?) I'm in college right now; I think I was an average student back in high school but had bad test scores.

Thanks

(ps. I am trying to get my app out of the way ASAP)

Yes you will need to be competitive to gain access to your portal (online application). As far as test scores, they will need to be competitive. You can search other threads for average SAT/ACT scores. You are applying somewhat late so if this is something you really want to do then complete your application asap. It may seem overwhelming at first but if you strive to attend then you will get it done. Best of luck to you.

What if I decide not to put down test scores? (optional)

I would not recommend doing that. You will have to show them at some point unless you plan on retaking it very soon. You also need to send them to your congressman/senators for your nomination application and most applications close in October/November.

I will be retaking it pretty soon PLUS my test scores are old (and not to good to my knowledge)

Well check your congressman/congresswoman and senators' websites for their individual application deadlines. Remember that the score reports can take a long time to get sent so if your nomination sources don't receive them by the deadline, then your application will most likely not be looked at.

Im pretty sure they will be in on time. My only concern is the prelim app for USMA. This is my second time applying and the first time I put down scores (550 cr, 480 math, 500 writing) it went through and I had access to my portal. I dont know if the same will happen this time

Isn't there a way to re-activate a previous application? Then you can just update the app with your new SAT/ACT scores and college transcript. If you have your nomination apps in, you need to get your USMA app done. My DS is having his ACT/SAT scores from this fall sent to USMA, as I am sure many others are.

For reapplicants, the system recognizes the SSN and transfer the current application information automatically.

It transferred my old information--high school class rank and SAT scores ~1520 overall. I will be re-taking them October because they weren't competitive enough for admission.
