Accutane?

Hello all,

I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback and/or personal advice.
I have had mild acne for years and still continue to have it. I have been on many different medications all of which have not worked. The only medication left for me to use is Accutane. I am pretty sure Accutane is an automatic DQ; however, can a waiver be obtained before next June?
If I decide to do Accutane I will begin taking it later this month. After 5 months of treatment I will be done. Can this cause a major problem or can a waiver for Accutane be easily obtained?

I know of someone who was taking Accutane and is now attending a SA. If I recall correctly, it is an automatic DQ if you're on Accutane but it can be lifted if the person stops taking Accutane and is fine after a period of time (not sure length).

Of course, any decision to stop or change Rx medication should only be made in consultation with one's physician.

So, I would start with DODMERB to understand what it takes to lift the DQ and then follow up with your doctor to see if this is feasible.

I don't know what the current standard is, but for the class entering in 2016, you were disqualified while if you were on Accutane and until 8 weeks after completion.
 
I was on accutane a while back and my recruiter told me that you have to be done the treatment for... 4-6 months I think? Somewhere in that range, maybe 8?
