Not true. I am more of a supporter of all Academies D1 sports programs. Just making a point that there is corruption in all areas of the military. Actually Navy is my second favorite military branch. DS has several high school friends at USNA and I spent many days strolling their beautiful campus.

Not bullying you, just stating the obvious. If people want to look back at you past statements, they will find numerous "LITS is an Air Force hater" or "Scoutpilot is an Air Force hater."

No bullying from my, I'm just explaining that Scout's comment is in reference to your past attempts to label others as "haters".

At least he didn't say you were in the SAF mafia (another label you've used).

Remember, I'm very OK with highlighting the negatives along with the positives of any service academy or service (including the one I went to and was a member of).

It is BTW a sad article that was the subject of the OP on this Navy CDR who is charged with taking kickbacks to steer contracts and even scheduling port calls. Disappointing to say the least.

And how LITS, and Scoutpilot feel about AF is also a fact. I did not coin the term SAF mafia, I called you all "Lord of the fly posse". Please get it straight.

I have nothing but repect for all of our military branches.

My original post was about a new article describing potential criminal acts in the active duty Navy. My point is that there are problem members thru out the military, not just academy ex football players. There have been problems with active duty Army, Air Force, and Navy officers. Posting of the article was not a slight at any military branch, there has been enough bad press to go around.

An AF General in charge of nukes fired for conduct. A Navy O6 that took kick backs for govt contracts is not as frightening to me than the guy who holds the key codes for nukes!

Please, if you want to have a true discussion that can benefit all posters heed bruno's words. Remember my AF life started in college in 1984 with Bullet in AFROTC, and spent 21 yrs ADAF, now an AF O1 Mom, and Bullet works at the Pentagon as an AF govt contractor. Nobody bleeds blue more than me!

Right now, what I am seeing is stones being thrown at glass houses. All that is left is broken glass.

Do I believe Scout was being sarcastic? Heck yes! You should see the stuff him and Bullet (my DH) throw at each other regarding how each other is in the wrong branch! Scout has taken me out to the woodshed, just like you. The irony is not lost on me that you believe I am a part of the posse.

Here is the difference.
1. When he takes me out, I take it private.
~~~ I believe he respects me for being a spouse and a Mom, and understands my perspective is different. I respect him because he lives this life, and I forgot that harsh reality is the AD world..
~ I wanted to run with the big dogs, and I am that basset hound. I have worth in the hunt, but it is not same as he big dogs.

2. If you were at a cocktail party with scout, you two would probably have a great debate, and walk away with a different perspective than you have on this forum.

3. Look at his career field.
~~~~ I believe your DS is going to go to UPT. If you think anything Scout said was bullying, just wait to you hear from him how the IPs tell them they are pieces of crap! It is constant bullying!

That is Scout's life. Their life is bullet points, get to the facts, no coddling, in essence call a spade a spade.

It is up to you now...do you want to continue this path, or discuss why in a week there were at least 3 high ranking officers in the military released due to gambling, bribery and alcohol.

I stated in my previous email that there is enough bad publicty for all branches of the military.

I haven't said anything about coddling anyone??????

I am sure Scoutpilot is an honorable veteran. Just have negative points of view about AF.

My OP has nothing to do with what you are saying. OP was an article that exposes negative conduct by some members of our active duty Navy. There seems to be a concern about the negative conduct of academy D1 football players. I just pointing out there is corruptions from all ranks not just D1 athletes.

My opinion, nothing changed, the O6's and above were and are not immune from alcoholism, gambling, bribery, prostitution, and etc.

What might be happening is a slight shift in the culture of how senior officers are viewed and treated. I recently read Thomas Ricks' book about the Army generalship since WW II. One of the famous quotes from the book is

as one American colonel said bitterly during the Iraq War, “As matters stand now, a private who loses a rifle suffers far greater consequences than a general who loses a war.”

I like to think that some generals read this book and perhaps partially applying what they read (not likely).

There are two paths right now.

We come together as posters and discuss ideas that will benefit the future military

OR

We sit here and attack posters because we PERCEIVE an injustice from other posters opinions.

I prefer to go back to your original post and discuss how this is occurring in the current environment.
~ I don't care if you, Scout, LITS or any of the posters you believe are he Lord of the Flies posse want a fight fest about which poster threw the 1st stone.

I have failed many times, but I still stand by this....lurkers and posters come 1st.

Want to fight with them, or me? Take it private. For now, this should be about educating and assisting everyone that finds the link to this site when they google anything SA/ROTC/DoDMERB.

My loyalty is to SAF! Better yet, it is to the parents and candidates that have no military ties, and trying to figure out the military world! Not Lord of the Flies Posse or SAF Mfaia.
