Is it possible to get a waiver for prior service with an RE-3 for AFROTC?

Apologies in advance if this in the wrong section of the forum, I'm new here.

I've been wanting for some time to enroll in AFROTC at my university but was wondering if it is even possible with a prior RE-3 discharge from the Army. I enlisted in August 2008 but was discharged soon after because I was on anti-depressants from age 14-16 (I'm 24 now). Is it still possible to enroll in AFROTC with that history or would it need to be waivered or anything else?

Thanks

With a RE-3 I think it's highly doubtful and I don't know what the corresponding code in the AF is but I think it would be the same or worse.

Check with the cadre

Sounds fishy. What was your chapter? I need the whole story.

I'm not 100% sure but I vaguely recall (I was discharged 4 years ago) them saying it was 5-11 EPTS. I don't see it listed on my DD-214 anywhere. All it says on the bottom is "re-entry code 3" "seperation code JFV". It was an uncharacterized discharge since I was in service less than 180 days.

I'm going to be admittedly short with you. A 5-11 is a medical provider/command throwing you a bone. Essentially you lied on your medical history and instead of charging you with fraudulent enlistment and ruining your life, they gave you a "didn't meet fitness standards".

5-11 aside, you have a documented hx of depression in addition to your RE-3. The odds are stacked against you at this point. Feel free to verify anything you read on the forums with a ROTC recruitment officer.

Thanks for the information. I have a meeting with the ROTC recruiter on Monday, I guess I'll see where things go from there.
