Mysterious Letter

Hello Everyone,

I was contacted by my Blue and Gold Officer today and told to call him when I receive a letter from USNA. He also said that he could not discuss the letter with me until after I have received it. Has anyone experienced this before and possibly knows what this letter is?

I am very sorry if I am not allowed to be discussing this topic online.

No, but I have submitted my nomination packets and have an interview for my Congressman's nom on November 20th.

The BGO is probably just trying to make sure you keep him in the loop. I don't think they are copied on all correspondence.
 
Maybe an admissions board 'Record Deferral'? DS was recently informed his record was deferred pending his fall semester final grades before the board will make their decision.

Wouldn't it be awesome if it were an LOA!?!?

I'm just curious though to know if the BGO would know that BEFORE the candidate? My DS's BGO indicated that my son would know of an offer BEFORE the BGO would, and asked that if my son received an offer to call him (BGO) right away to share the good news.

Anyone else hear this?
 
My DS received an LOA. He contacted his BGO for guidance regarding nominations. Untill my DS told him, his BGO didn't know about the LOA. Seems like from what I've read on here, every situation is different though-there is no set formula for how candidates are informed of their status. Good luck to your DS.

as a future leader he will be handed all types of surprises, and how he deals with them will be the mark of a true leader. Anyway, I sure this forum has provided a wealth of information to him, and the idea of an LOA was already there.:wink:
 
LOA surprises

Talk of a possible LOA and the accompanying surprise took me back to October 2008. DD had her application in and various letters were going back and forth due to medical issues. Mom got small thin envelope from USNA at home, called DD (who was just finishing soccer practice) to inform her, DD told mom to open envelope (thinking it was nothing and probably related to medical issues, etc.), mom started readling LOA out loud to DD over phone, mom starts going nuts in kitchen and DD goes crazy in front of soccer team as they realize what the letter was. Great moment. I got to hear about it later at home.

Love the surprise LOA and nomination stories.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I'll be sure to let you know when the letter arrives. Until then, all I can do is be patient and wait.
 
Letter Arrived!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I received the "mysterious letter" today. It was an LOA! Thanks to everyone who has helped me throughout the application process, either directly or indirectly. While I am honored to receive an LOA, I know that this is not an appointment, thus I am ready give my all in nomination interviews coming up.

Thanks again to everyone for the help!
 
Congratulations! Glad to here the mystery was cleared up in the positive fashion many of us anticipated! Get a nom. And keep your nose clean. No slacking off! :thumb:

Congrats! Its a massive achievement and I can't even imagine how relieved you are.
